Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomHot water a bit hit and miss. Toilet smelt horrible even after I scubbed it. Very slippery shower over bath with no mat or handles. Way too many dogs, mostly off the lead weeing everywhere (and worse!) There should be a seperate area for dogs - not everyone likes them.
Excellent location for exploring St Martin on foot (or bike!) Great staff - really helpful particularly when our payment hadn't gone through from Booking.com. Nice clean little pool..Comfy bed and pillows. Well stocked kitchenette but no oven.

FranceWe thought the floor of the apartment was not as clean as it should have been. The toilet smelled of urine, and the back of the toilet door was badly stained. Handrails to help get into and out of the bath should be installed. My wife and I have no disability, but we found it slippery, and unsafe. My wife slipped on her first attempt to get out, fortunately without hurting herself. I then had to help her from then on to get in and to get out. Having the shower over the bath would be another good reason to have hand rails.
We have stayed at Le Palais des Gouverneurs 4 times, and will be returning for a fifth time this coming New Year's eve. We like the location, and the facilities very much. It's very calm, quiet and tranquil. Parking is very good, and with easy access to the apartment. Staff were very helpful, pleasant, and always welcoming with a smile. The opportunity to check-out at 18h00 for an extra 30 euro was ideal. It meant we could stay for the day before driving home in the evening.

IrelandWhile it was close to town it was stuck down a a side street and the front door was misleading and awkward to find when we got to the town. The room wasn't that clean for us to use when we checked in and we had to make the beds as well which was a bit odd.
The pool was good for our kids, if a bit smaller than I expected. But overall the room we were given wasn't what I had booked, the hotel obligingly moved us to a new room but overall the hotel was as clean or comfy as I would've expected.

United KingdomThere were 3 of us (all adult size) and our appartment was just about big enough. There wouldnt be enough living space to relax if there had been 4 of us, as there is only one sofa. Its lovely to have a balcony but it is only big enough for 2 to comfortably sit. There was only a double and a sofa bed, which didn't work that well for our group, twin beds plus sofa would have been better, but i hadnt specified when i booked.
Location is great, quiet and tucked away but only a short walk to the shops and the harbour. Friendly staff. Great to have a pool that is half in, half outside, so great whether it is sunny or raining. The room was warm and had everything we needed. I hadn't realised I could book bikes there, but might do that next time.

United KingdomThe shower & bath tiles could do with a deeper clean as they typically get a little mouldy in between the tiles which doesn’t look so good. I managed to clean better with a scrub myself. They could do with more attention. Apart from that things were generally clean. They also had an issue with the fire alarm on the last night going off at 11pm and 5am. Seemed like a fault (or perhaps someone smoking??) we couldn’t understand what the person said in French before people went back in. But we are sure it’s a one off. It didn’t happen the other 6 days/ nights.
Location is wonderful - so near to the port & in its own little garden. Pool is great with inside and outside combination & lovely sauna & steam room. We booked a ground floor room with terrace & it was lovely with table, sun shade, sun bed & clothes drying rack. Laundry was useful too (5 euros for washer, 3 for dryer). Parking was brilliant and we always got a space fine even though busy. Kitchen was well equipped despite being on the small side although there is no oven. But there is a dishwasher & they give you a cleaning pack with 5 tablets in for it. We also loved that you can borrow games from reception including boules & table tennis bats for the tables outside.

United KingdomWe had a small studio apartment with a very small kitchen area which was fine for a couple of nights but nit suitable if you were going to stay for a week and do your own cooking at night etc. Not allowed to drop bags of at reception, instead have to drive to car park and then wheel your luggage through the grounds to reception to check in.
Pool was ok, but could have been much better with more space for sun beds. And sun beds could have been provided rather than adjustable chairs. Great location and friendly staff.

United KingdomBetter if croisant etc had been available earlier than 9am. Shower / bath area could be modernised. Underfoot surface potentially slippery. Shortage of shaded seating and tables outside despite space available. We changed our dates and then kept getting demands for payment for the earlier period which we had changed long before the expiry of the free cancellation period . More local info in the room or reception area.
Spacious light and airy room in quiet location, with balcony. Close to town centre. Very convenient for those with a car. Adequately equipped kitchen area. Useful items for sale in reception. Friendly staff.

United KingdomThe reception took a €200 ‘damage’ deposit on check in. On departure i was notified that €65 cleaning fee had been deducted because the bed sheets needed changed (!) we had been there for a week! I disputed this because it was not a cleaning deposit and also i would assume the apartments are all cleaned between guests. None of the €200 was refunded to me and the staff were very abrupt in communications
Location was great.

United KingdomThe rooms were a little dated and faded, but not awful. The kitchens were pretty basic, but basically okay.
The hotel was well located, a short walk into town and in a lovely setting. However, I wasn't best pleased to have paid up front with booking.com "inclusive of all taxes" to find that on my arrival, I was told it was obligatory to pay the local tourism tax direct to the hotel. This felt like a shakedown. When we got to our apartment, I was pretty annoyed to find that the staff hadn't even bothered to make our beds - instead, we were left a plastic pack of sheets on top of each mattress. For well over a hundred Euros a night, I don't expect to have to spend twenty minutes making the beds. Other than that, it was good. There was a decent pool and a little gym. The parking wasn't far and they even provided hand carts to haul your bags to the rooms.
