Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI would like to say first that we have previously stayed here and it was excellent, this time we felt a little let down and unwelcome. Our room was right next to the external fans and boiler. It was so loud in our room throughout the night that I hardly slept. Some members of staff could be taught a bit of professionalism. Rooms were generally cold.
Extremely dog friendly. Very spacious bedrooms with good comfy beds. 20 minute walk into town and a 15 minute walk into Stockbridge.

United KingdomFirst we were given a room in the basement, as there were no windows and ventilation, we asked for a new one. The new room had a window, but the floor creaked so much that it was probably even worse. And plus there were only two single beds (we asked for a double bed) So we went for the third try, which was already a problem as they thought we were looking for trouble. After about an hour, it was done and we got a third room, which was equal to the price. The only thing I missed was a fridge. You also have to wait until 16:00 to register, and it is not possible to do so earlier, even if you would like to pay extra. Plus you have to pay a parking fee in front of the hotel, which is about £7.5/day. But I really have to praise the ladies at the reception. Good point is that hotel is pet friedly, you just need to pay 10£/night extra :)
Staff, especially two extremely lovely and helpfull girls on reception

IrelandWe asked for spare pillow and was told we would get it if they were available. Small little things like no wifi in rooms and had to pay a fee to connect to if we wanted to avail of it from our room. Then was told there was no wifi in the bedrooms but there was in the main area in fairness alright. Was not made aware of the times of breakfast either but I guess that was up to ourselves to ask. Im honestly not fussy just thought the basics were a let down for the money paid for our first trip to edinbouragh
It was within reasonable distance of the city in a quiet area.

United KingdomDid not have breakfast as it finished too early. As a tourist would have preferred a later breakfast at least until 10am as once out we were out all day. Location was mot accessible to pop back to easily and taxis were expensive. Parking at hotel was expensive. Bar in hotel expensive.

United KingdomThe food choice and price was very expensive. Bar didn't open till 5pm so couldn't get refreshment if u arrived early. No ice available for both days! No cleaners came in as was stated out before but if ur staying for more that 3 days I think this is unacceptable.. u pay for a room to be clean and fresh within the price!!! Also lights by the beds didn't even work!!
Close to where I needed to go.

United KingdomThe hotel itself was very tired and could do with a full refurb, the bathroom was small and the tap was broken a little could make it work but awkward, the bath itself was very useable but the side panel was broken and overall the passage to the room did not feel clean and tidy, however for value it was excellent.
Room was clean and tidy, the bed was comfy enough and the location was perfect for what I was looking for, parking while you had to pay was very reasonable at £7.50 for 24 hrs and could use before and after your stay had finished.

United KingdomThe room was very basic, and the bathroom could do with a makeover, but for the price, everything was fine. I thought the hotel itself was a little dated. Nothing a bit of decoration would fix, but overall, it was a good 2 night stay. We didn't try any of the food or bar as we went out, but it all looked great. The location was good for the transport links so we could stay just outside the centre.
The beds were comfortable the room was clean and the staff were lovely, very friendly. The reception area was well maintained.

United KingdomWhen I checked in and gave my details the staff did not explain to me the arrangements for the parking (you have to pay a ticket fee for parking up to 24 hours). I only avoided getting a fine, by observing another customer use a ticket machine inside the hotel itself. When I then asked about this the receptionist was defensive and blamed me for not having mentioned my car despite me giving her the registration number earlier. I picked up a - we don't care about you vibe! The hotel did not serve any meals that evening. When I asked at reception for directions to takeaways, the staff member said she did not know where any were.
The bed was comfortable, the shower was big, and the breakfast was good. The hotel was in a quiet location and the shops at Haymarket were close by.

United KingdomWindow didn't shut causing room to be freezing even with heaters on. Had to leave shower on for at least 10 minutes before it was a bearable temperature (scalding hot before left for 10 mins). 'double' bed was two singles pushed together and they kept moving apart. No bin in room. No plug for bath. Lack of toilet roll. Dirty towels. Walls were damp and horrible. Lifts were filthy with rubbish in all weekend. Only saw one cleaner and that was on the Sunday (stayed for 3 nights) One switch on left side of bed as uou look at it didnt even work
TV channels. Friendly staff letting us check in early. And storage for luggage

United KingdomThe housekeeping forgot to clean the bathroom and there was a pair of socks left under the bed, dust all over the place and mouldy window frame. Instead of three beds as per the reservation or a double and a single for three guests we were greeted by two beds, problem solved by the reception.
The room was quiet.
