How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Scrumbled eggs were a bit disappointing as they had a slightly greysh colour and not the best taste. I would improve the bread selection, only two type of bread available. For the price paid you might expect slightly more. In the morning a girl from the staff knocked at the door, then she opened the door of my room and told me she was thinking I was outside! A bit of privacy... Come on. She said she was new but... No one has thought to this girl that she shouldn't even knock at the door and disturb people at 8 o'clock unless there is something to say? Another downside is that check in supposed to be not earlier than 3 pm and check out at 11, not even close to the usual 23/24 hours of the majority of the hotels stay!
The size and comfort of the bed was great. Food was nice, sausages, single eggs and tomatoes for the breakfast were amazing. Overall nice breakfast with fruit, yogurt, small croissants and English breakfast at buffet, so "all you can eat" really. Avery nice view!Hairdrier in, I was happy to see the bottles of hand gel and shower gel instead the usual small packaging, pocket size, soap.

The rooms are a little dated, but not to the point I wouldn't stay again. It's mainly the bathroom that needs a bit of tlc

Directions to car parking online were terrible - receptionist agreed. Lots of marks, stains, scuffs on carpet, curtains, bed etc. Cooked breakfast had been there for hours and not replaced/replenished. Coffee not great.
Nice man at reception, friendly staff. Big enough room, all pretty clean and comfortable. Amazing location in Centre next to station and Hypodrome. Nice foyer etc. Fruit and plain yogurt at breakfast. Offer of poached eggs.

Our room was cold. Was given a heater though when asked about this. We had absolutely no WiFi in our room even when connected to the hotel. When I plugged in any of our devices the sockets made a worrying sound. Definitely a problem with all of them in the room. As well as the sound our devices wouldn’t charge - kept going in and out of connection. The bathroom could have done with an update.
Breakfast was good.

Some mould in bathroom, kitchen unable to cook chips properly and also unable to put all the ingredients on a plate . Given how simple the menu is even a trainee should be able to deliver a good plate of food!

The only minus bathroom was licking and the maintenance has to come and check it out because the room below made a complaint ..
The location is very nice! The breakfast is very nice many choices! The room was okay and with nice view to the street!

Rooms are getting a bit tired. Needing a freshen up and the bathroom stank of damp as the extractor fan doesn't work and hasn't for the past year and a half as we have stayed in this room 3 times in this time period.

I only took points off for staff as eating in the restaurant at night was a little slapdash, not sure who/where the staff were, although the food when it arrived was good.
Location was perfect for us, stayed many times before as it's just between New Street Station and the Birmingham Hippodrome where we go to see shows. Excellent check in. Very good lifts. Comfortable and spacious room with a fridge. Huge king sized bed. Great breakfast.

On site Starbucks was awful. Staff grumpy, hot drinks served in paper cups and little on offer to eat at 4pm.
Bed was comfortable and bedding soft. Shower room was fine. Great to be able to open our 4th floor window for fresh air, albeit only a few centimetres. Breakfast was great. Fresh fruit, fruit salad, yogurts and granola pots. Along with baked goods there was a wide range of hot food.
