A lovely warm welcome from the hosts, room was very clean and bed was very comfortable. The room was compact but the hosts had been very thoughtful and supplied a generous breakfast of cereal, croissants, fruit, milk, jam and drinks. I thought it was a very well thought out room and the pub below was utterly charming. A peaceful street so noise

As shown in the pictures, the room is not huge so it might be uncomfortable if you have big luggage. The one thing I did not love about the room was the bathroom floor, it feels like plastic and it is not very nice to walk on, but it is a somewhat personal taste.

The guy at the pub was very kind and immediately showed up to our room upon arrival. The room was comfortable and there were a few different options for breakfast, which I really appreciated.

Would not recommend if you can't manage stairs. 2 flights of stairs to top floor.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Even the locals in the pub made us feel welcome. The room was comfort, it wasn't overly large but then we only needed somewhere to change sleep and it was more than adequate. Good provisions for breakfast and a jug of milk in the fridge for plenty of Tea's and coffee's.warm, comfortable, friendly stay. I would recommend and I will be going back.

Very nice and helpful host; even though the room is above a pub, it was quiet; a separate entrance, good continental breakfast, everything is clean and everything works in the bathroom.

Limited parking on street (quite narrow) but plenty of parking on next street over or on the main road (parking cheaper than Kemptown where we often stay)

Clean, comfortable room located above a little pub. Close to Hove high street which had lots of nice restaurants. Only a short walk from Brighton Center and the pier. Nice pub below for a drink and landlords very friendly. Basic continental breakfast in room but fresh fruit was a nice addition

Traditional little pub downstairs and superb accommodation upstairs. Spotlessly clean facilities. The most amazing rain fall shower in our modest ensuite. Bed super comfy had great night sleep despite facing road Parking outside no problem as we could purchase permit from landlord. Very welcoming and we enjoyed our stay and would go back there again.

There was an issue with the fire alarm in the middle of the night unfortunately, but it got sorted. Otherwise I would have had a very good comfortable sleep.

The Bow Street Runner is a lovely small traditional English pub with a few rooms upstairs. The rooms are well kept, clean and simple. There are a few nice touches, and a simple breakfast of croissants etc is provided. The street outside is quiet- the pub is on a quiet side street off the busy main street in Hove. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Once you have introduced yourself at the bar, you will be shown the rooms and given keys which mean you can come and go without having to go through the bar, which is nice. The bed was very comfy as well.

The mattress was a bit flatter at the sides so I felt like I was tilting towards the edge a bit when lying on it. I have a very firm mattress at home so I may just be super sensitive to anything less firm.

The room was above a quirky pub at the very top of the building. It was quiet and I didn’t hear any other guests which was great. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, checked me in and provided keys. There were 2 croissants for breakfast, a selection of cereals, fresh milk , juice and water in the mini fridge. Teas, coffees, sugar and a nice clean kettle. The bathroom was nice and clean with a good shower and plenty of clean towels and a flannel. The bedding was clean and fresh and there was a good amount of pillows.

Only thing I can think of is that the shower head could do with a good scrub (other than that everything was very clean!).

The Bow Street Runner is an absolute gem. Sue (and Kev) couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful (they arranged vegan croissants and oat milk for us, for example). The room and facilities were perfect for us, and the location in the heart of Hove is surrounded by everything you'd want. Locals in the pub gave us a warm welcome too. Definitely recommend, and definitely will return.

There was nothing not to like

The Bow Street Runner is a sweet and charming little public house on a quiet side street in Hove. The pub and the accommodation are run by the fabulous and friendly couple Sue and her husband Kevin. The rooms, which are above the pub are immaculate, warm and cosy. Continental breakfast, cereals, coffee, tea, milk, fruit juice and yogurts, available in a mini fridge in the room, are freshly supplied every morning along with fresh cutlery and crockery. The rooms are clean and fresh, beds comfortable and the bathroom immaculate. Sue herself cleans and freshens the room everyday at your convenience. This place is an absolute find for anyone looking for cosy, warm, private and off the beaten track hospitality, of the kind it is hard to find these days. My husband and I highly recommend this place. Words are not enough to describe how lovely the Bow Street Runner and it's proprietors are. We recommend go see for yourselves. If you are a smoker/vaper the accommodation has a separate entrance door for guests which enables the guests of The Bow Street Runner able to exit and enter the accommodation at any time of day or night: you have a key to your room and the outside door meaning, happily, guests can come and go as they please without having to check in or out. We recommend the following places to eat: The Modelo Lounge where service and food are exceptional and The Otello Italian restaurant for great food, service and prices. The bus service is convenient and easy to find and use. The beach is a mere five minute walk away and Brighton itself is a very easy stroll away. Hove station is a 30 minute walk away where you can get the train to London in an hour and a half.

What a little gem I found here. Sue was so welcoming and friendly. Fantastic room with a small fridge. Fresh orange juice, yoghurt, water, milk and croissants for breakfast. The regulars in the pub were so friendly and chatty. Loved the pub dog Bo and the other dogs which came in. Would definitely love to book again if we come to Brighton. 😊
