Breakfast was lovely. But, regarding the room. Bit disappointed it was £40 extra though, as we had 2 dogs. And didn't realise the extra charge.

The shower head was not great to manage, it is one of those that is supposed to sit on the side of a bath to rinse, no t a main shower head. The hotel decor was very tired and dated. There was a constant running water noise close to our room from inside the hotel. The mattress on the single bed in the room was really hard and uncomfortable. The lady in the breakfast room was abrupt, rude and loud, quite discourteous and the breakfast selection was substandard and inadequate.

The hotel location is stunning and we had a lakeside view. The reception staff were very kind and well mannered. The room was a good size and had coffee making facitilities and TV

Bathroom facilities were mediocre, Toilet seat was "interesting" as it didn't actually fit the toilet at all and you was left with partly sitting on the porcelain rim Shower leaked down the wall and flooded the floor, plus the tiles were loose or just balanced in place at the base of the bath. no hot breakfast as this was not available until after 8am and (due to having to be at a conference for 8:30am, and allowing for travel) I had to be gone long before it was ready. If you have food allergies, i'd say take your own food and there was only Soya Milk as a milk alternative

Room was clean and tidy and comfortable. There was tea and coffee facilities with plenty of supplies and milk Breakfast was ok, The room had a balcony which was a bonus and a stunning view.

The fire doors along the corridor slammed after 11pm, and somewhat after 12pm which kept me awake.

We stayed overnight for the Tom Jones tribute evening. 3 course meal was very good, big portions and hot and tasty. Robb Dee as Tom Jones was brilliant. Staff were attentive and pleasant even though there was a bit of a problem with the card machine due to WiFi signal being poor. Breakfast was buffet, plenty of choice, nice clean tidy dining hall. In terms of the room. We had the four poster room which, although spotlessly clean, was very tired in decor. It wouldn't take much to make these rooms really high end and fit for a modern clientele. There was no spoon for the tea and coffee, no hairdryer and radiator was off for our entire stay. On the plus side, the bed was comfy and the room was spacious and had nice seating area. The outside of the building appears to have a new roof and new windows and is in good repair. I am hoping that this is now to be extended to refurbing the rooms as they could be so lovely. All in all we had a great evening and a comfortable stay but it could have been so much better.

We only stayed the one night and would of loved to return for a few more, however the extra at £20 per night is too much. £20 per stay would of been acceptable. Such a shame.

A lovely bespoke hotel. Like stepping back in time. Decor, facilities, grounds and staff were great.

Great Hotel and an almost perfect stay...
    • Leisure trip
    • Couple
    • Double Room with Four Poster Bed
    • Stayed 2 nights

The shower in the bathroom couldn't be adjusted properly which meant the floor got flooded quite badly and had to be dried up which meant using towels that could have lasted for two nights instead of one. The room wasn't made up and tea/coffee provisions not replaced whilst we were out on the Saturday but not sure if we should have requested this...??? Sunday morning breakfast, again no problem to do vegetarian sausages and poached eggs but there was a lack of choices for yoghurts, cereals and bread. Maybe this was because there were more people in for breakfast and "when it's gone it's gone"...???

A good hotel in a beautiful location for walking. Had booked the four poster room but received a phone whilst on our way that due to unforeseen circumstances it wasn't available and we had been upgraded to a larger room with balcony overlooking the lake (the view of the countryside was also lovely). Breakfast on the Saturday was excellent and the staff went out of their to prepare vegetarian sausages and poached eggs. Quality of food on offer for breakfast was good. Restaurant food was OK but could have had a few vegetarian options...??? Bar staff in the evenings were excellent.
