communication. I expect to be asked if I want to make a dinner reservation, not having to ask myself and then having to ask where the restaurant was. There was no information about breakfast times, I had to look on the website to find out. I asked if they could refreeze some cooler blocks as my Granddaughter had medication that needed to be kept cool. I was told no they couldn't but I could have a bucket off ice, not a lot of help when I needed to take the medicine out with me during the day. My solution was to ask for my water bottle to be filled with ice, to put in the cool bag during the day. It took the waitress, in the evening, 10 minutes to realise my Granddaughter was a child and I may want the childrens menu. I asked for the allergy book to check the food that my Granddaughter could eat but it wasn't up to date and contained dishes that weren't even on the menu. Although stated on the website, there wasn't a hairdryer in the room.

The quiet location. Bedroom layout. Breakfast choice. After a call to the hotel, they provided the milk my Granddaughter needs.

Main problem was that we were very cold in the room. Heating was turned off in the room and I struggled to sleep. There was an extra blanket which we used. I did however realise the next morning that there was a heater in the room so partly our fault for not using it. Wouldn't let this put me off staying again.

Lovely location and beautiful building. Breakfast was great and staff were very friendly and helpful. Beautiful gardens.

It’s in need of a total update. We stayed here 40 years ago and it’s still the same, just worn out. A pity really because it would be outstanding if it had been maintained to the standard it once was.

Some small niggles with room already reported to staff (TV and shower). Did not find a dog bin!

Position/ Situation. Very friendly and hardworking staff. Attitude to dogs is positive (although a £20 nightly charge for a continuous stay is slightly excessive - compare Travelodge at £20 per stay.) Large, comfortable bar.

Balcony railings covered in cobwebs - room was really ckean, but think the balcony had not been touched for weeks. . No hair dryer in the drawer, but clearly someone had pinched it as the end bit was still there! Didn't matter to us as I always take my own. Bar nice but was really quiet, (no atmosphere). Charged separately for both dogs (2 × £20 = £40 for one night). Don't see why we had to pay double when they were both staying in the same room as ourselves, so any extra cleaning that the hotel felt they needed to plan for would not be doubled. Other places we've stayed just charge a single amount whether you have one or two pets with you.

Dog friendly room - reasonable price - nicely furnished and it had a balcony overlooking a large pond with lily pads and fish. Would be great venue for weddings.

The lift wasn't working and access tyo the room through fire doors was cumbersome. Dinner in the bar was ok but overpriced for what it was. I have stayed in the past when the food has been better.

The setting near the Wrekin is lovely and it was great that on this occasion the hotel was not full of a coach party

The overall feel of the hotel is pretty dated.

Broken bin in the bathroom. Stray short head hair (not mine) on the rim of the bath & another on a wall tile. Fire alarm went off at 1am & again at 1.20am. Not a great night's sleep as a result.

Quiet location. Good size room. Comfy bed. Balcony overlooking the garden area. Large fluffy white bath towel. Ate in the bar in the evening (additional cost). Tasty food. Lovely breakfast too (included in the room rate).

Ask for ground floor rooms but were put on 1st floor, lift broke down 4 times, once when were in the lift! Had problems with 1 room key opening the door, key never worked first time - was changed twice. No disabled facilities/showers.

Rooms were spacious and well equipped. Staff moved us swiftly and easily to ground floor rooms after lift breakdown. Ground floor rooms had lovely view onto pond - happily watched ducks swimming about. Breakfast very good, plenty of choice.

The first day or two we had the place to ourselves. The weekend there was a wedding party, but we were not affected by that. A bit of car noise late a night when I was trying to sleep, but it might have been from the road.

The location, the grounds, comfortable rooms with balcony, well-presented inside (bar, restaurant etc) Nice staff. Very good breakfast.

The shower head was not great to manage, it is one of those that is supposed to sit on the side of a bath to rinse, no t a main shower head. The hotel decor was very tired and dated. There was a constant running water noise close to our room from inside the hotel. The mattress on the single bed in the room was really hard and uncomfortable. The lady in the breakfast room was abrupt, rude and loud, quite discourteous and the breakfast selection was substandard and inadequate.

The hotel location is stunning and we had a lakeside view. The reception staff were very kind and well mannered. The room was a good size and had coffee making facitilities and TV
