How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Bed was to soft but that's personal preference.plumbing very noisy. Was quite dim in the room.
Great location,staff very welcoming,room on the smaller side but had everything we needed.parking permit given on arrival as the few spaces were taken,but no problem got a space on road.

Room was directly off the reception which kinda put a different note on a romantic night away from hime and being an old house could hear every step of other residents in room above. Room was nice but needed a little extra like a refresh of paint. Decore and furniture was a little miss matched for what they where attempting to go for with it.
Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was very nice. Location was perfect for seafront. Bath was amazing once it was full which took a while but a huge bath and as don't have a bath at home was a treat

Bedroom was big and well appointed but decor was dated and naff. It needs a bit of a rethink for £144/night Bathroom was a bit of a squeeze and no decently hot water in the morning.
Breakfast was very good. Bed was comfortable.

Advertised tv that pops out of the end of the bed is obviously now not in use, but its more than made up for by large tv on the wall so just a comment, rather than a problem. Perhaps just upgrade the pictures for that room.
Stayed two nights in the 'Executive Double' in January to visit Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. Good welcome in reception and nice decor. Large room on first floor, other guests obviously around but not noisy. Small clean bathroom with over the bath shower and free mini toiletries. Comfortable large bed. Tea and coffee making stuff with biscuits, refilled after our first night - which was appreciated. Excellent breakfast in the mornings, lots of choice, we down-sized to smaller breakfasts on second day! Large wall mounted tv in room with netflix etc. We were able to park immediately outside (we understand if their parking area is full they also provide permits to enable guests to park on the road). Bus stop virtually outside, on a circular route which goes right past the dockyard so ideal for our stay.

Good value stopover to catch the ferry the following day.. We stayed in the Gold-Rush room at the top of the building. The room is small but has all you need. Comfy bed, kettle, ensuite. Breakfast was superb. We were lucky to park on the hotel forecourt but the on street parking (with free permit from the hotel) would be ok. Pleasant welcome from reception.

Juice at breakfast was not very nice, tasted watery. Please provide Pure orange juice and apple juice at breakfast Coffee at breakfast was instant and awful tasting. Please provide cafetière or other fresh coffee options. Could hear other rooms occupants Furniture and in general looked tired and need of freshening up- this looked like this was being looked into as they were painting in foyer

My ground floor room - unrequested - was a bonus! The en suite bath was a joy; plenty of hot water for this aching traveler to luxuriate in, with complimentary products aplenty. The hospitality tray was well stocked & the inclusive wi-fi reception was good. Breakfast was wide-ranging & the staff helpful. Lots of nearby bus options for onward travel & close proximity to Canoe Lake, Southsea seafront: Hoping to revisit on future trips!

Beautiful hotel. Spotlessly clean, cosy, wonderful comfortable bed. Great staff,friendly, helpful,chatty and smiling, at ease. Tasty breakfast in a lovely dining room,plenty of food and tasty extras. Waiting staff very friendly and making sure we had everything. Hotel is in Nice area with bus stops around making it easy to get to places. Helpful lady told.me.the numbers and bus stops during early check in.

The photos make the rooms look a lot more luxurious than they actually are.. All a bit tired.

We had a TV bed but actual TV in it didn't work and the power of shower was very slow and took a while to warm up.
Liked the room names and that each room was decorated and styled differently which gave a quirky atmosphere. Well positioned to the seafront and parking on road which a permit was given by hotel. Breakfast was great with a huge selection.

We didn't have any soap on the basin in the ensuite.
A quirky room ( Room Gushing) with a very comfo rtable bed and large ensuite with shower over bath. Tastefully decorated with good facilities. The breakfast was cooked to order with many options available. We enjoyed our stay and will return in the future.

Lack of carpet in the bedroom made it feel like someone's house rather than a guest room Fine for some, but didn't suit us. Window left open in our room right by smoking area so smelled of smoke

It was in a very central and great location, parking right outside, lovely outside convenient designated smoking area! , staff were all super helpful and so friendly, the accommodation was lovely and just perfect, breakfast was great (we had it delivered to our room !) was amazing value for money! Would definitely recommend to others and would definitely love to stay again!
