How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

There is no parking on site and parking on the street can be difficult at busy times. Be careful not to park on double yellows, the parking wardens are very active!
The location is great and is right next to (not on) the waterfront and close to all the local amenities. Wayne, the proprietor, couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating, especially as our party, in total, equalled 12!

perfect accommodation, will be going back in the future
Lisa & wayne ran the guest house very friendly couple made us feel really welcome , Our room was of avarage Size with en-suit really warm and cosy, Located near sea front and pleasure Beach and trams if you don't want to walk to North or Central pier. Quite area, can definitely recommend staying there's a pool table & bar to keep kids happy if you fancy a drink , family friendly guest house We would definitely recommend the accommodation, There are 2 cafes just on the corner of the road from guest house with a great choice of foods ,great prices,we would book again 😀

Our hotel room was absolutely spotless, lovely, comfortable & clean. The couple who run the hotel couldn't be more helpful & friendly. I would highly recommend & we will happily stay again.

There was nothing i didn't like
The place was beautiful and they were very friendly and helpful and made you feel very welcome .It's in a very good location and there is parking nearby if you can't park in the street. The beds were very comfortable. The best night sleep i have had .Other things i like about Hawthorn house are they give you fresh milk and bottle water to take to your room, which has a fridge in .

We stayed in the double deluxe room, and it was amazing. The decors lovely the bed was so comfy, and the size of the shower was great.the location was fantastic too. I really didn't want to leave. The host was lovely as well, my partner, and I can not wait to come back and stay again 😊

When we arrived we was greeted with the biggest welcome. It was lovely to see a friendly face after a long car drive with 3 kiddos asking every 2 mins “are we there yet” the lovely gentleman helped us with our bags and directed us to parking spots. The room was spotless & the beds were exceptionally comfortable. The location couldn’t have been more perfect. We were in the middle of all amenities and not far from places to dine/ have a few cocktails. Thank you for a lovely stay. We will be back for sure!
