Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesChange nothing.
The village was fantastic and quaint. The perfect point for all adventures on Harris. Breakfast on the go was prepared for us on day one because of the trip to St Kilda, but day two made to order breakfast was wonderful . The hotel staff were the most friendly and helpful people I have ever meet. Thank you for making our stay great!!

India1. Room size - For the price they charge, single bed size could be a bit bigger. The bed, although comfortable, was narrower than a hostel dorm bed.
1. Location - Just by the ferry terminal...30 seconds walk and the bus stop, again 30 seconds walk. 3 min walk to the Hebridean Distillery Harrerach 2. Staff - Supremely helpful and polite. They even helped me open my suitcase when its lock malfunctioned. Restaurant manager is supremely helpful. 3. Restaurant - Serve very tasty food, specially check for whether they are serving local sea food. I tried muesels and locally caught laguistine....the way they made is simply delicious. 4. Well stocked bar - Apart from Whiskys, they also have Italian digestifs. 5. Comfortable room, very spacious bathroom with amazing toiletries

United KingdomI didn't stay long enough in beautiful Harris 😥😥😥
Everything. Way beyond what one would expect in such a remote (and beautiful!!) location. The place was spotlessly clean, food in the bar was very good with a good selection of beer as well. Breakfast was as good a cooked breakfast as I've had. Anne on reception really friendly and professional who gave me birdwatching tips as you'll see 😉

United KingdomIt would be great if they have the main restaurant open during the winter time, but it's understandable they are short in staff.
It's the best place to sleep in Tarbert. Staff super kind and professional. Delicious breakfast. Nice room: modern and cosy. Dinner at the pub was ok. Location-wise is the perfect place to enjoy the magnificent sandy beaches of Harris.

United StatesOur room was quite noisy. I’m not sure if it’s because we were over the restaurant, but it was a lot of noise for several hours. We also got the packed breakfast for the early ferry which was great - but the breakfast items themselves could have been better.
The location was very convenient for taking the ferry. We also loved the room. The bathroom was fantastic. We had a tub and shower - plus great smelling shower/bath products. (I mention that because we had a hotel on Skye that had a tub, but the toiletries they provided were terrible.) I immediately took a bath which was exactly what I needed after all the rain and wind we experienced exploring through the day. We’d booked dinner at the hotel - it was fine and had great service.

CanadaThe hotel is located directly across from the ferry. It is therefore very far from many attractions we wanted to see and so we ended driving too much. We could hear people's conversations in the next room, and all the noise from the ferry terminal very early in the morning. Ear plugs were provided by the hotel though! There is no elevator! Taking all large 4 suitcases up two floors was not at all fun.
The family room was beautiful; very well decorated. The bathroom was also very nice and large. The kids enjoyed their own single bed, which was great. The hotel has a restaurant that fills up quickly at night and we appreciated the emails we had received prior to arrival that suggested to book ahead. It proved very useful. The food was good and staff really nice at the restaurant.

United KingdomWe arrived late after a long trudge over the mountains in the rain. The welcome was very warm, including an upgrade which was very kind. Rooms were clean and tidy, and the beds were ultra comfortable. Dinner in the bar was excellent, great service, and breakfast the next morning was very tasty. All for a very reasonable price. If you're planning on arriving or leaving by ferry, then the hotel is right next to the ferry terminal.

United StatesThe weather was quite warm while we were in Tarbert, and our room was quite hot at night. We could not seem to get enough air in to cool it down.
Our room at the Hotel Hebrides was well appointed and extreme clean. Tea and coffee making facilities are provided, with snacks, and a small refrigerator. We ate in the bar a couple of times, and the food was great, and the staff very pleasant.
