Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was no porter, so I carried both sets of bags up to our room. I chose not to dine or book breakfast, as the options for vegans were quite limited. The location is somewhat 'in the middle of nowhere', which may be an issue if you find there is an item you haven't packed, or fancy dining out - you'd either have to designate a driver, or call a taxi. Personally, I went for a break and to enjoy the hotel and facilities, so this wasn't an issue for me.
The hotel itself and the facilities are very impressive. The older parts of the building are beautiful, with decor in keeping with the architecture, and many original features retained. The room was comfortable, spacious, tasteful and spotlessly clean, with nice amenities and a great view. Staff were very friendly, professional and accommodating, especially on reception and in the Leisure Suite. My Mum and I took full advantage of the heated pool, jacuzzi and sauna, passing through the large, air-conditioned gym on the way. The location is tranquil and pleasant to walk around, plus there was plenty of free, private parking on site and a pro golf shop, buggy hire etc.

United KingdomRoom service availability- we arrived back at the hotel at 11.00pm - and while did not expect a food offering - something than than crisps and nuts would be a bonus in the future
Very approachable staff . Relaxed atmosphere. While a country club/golf club- that did not impinge on our stay. Very good selection, variety and quality breakfast. Evening meal- we had the burgers , lacked something - nothing wrong but taste wise - could have done with a bit of wow, along with the squid, very neutral in taste.

United KingdomThe menu was a bit limited and I wasn't completely happy with either of my choices. The bed could have been a bit firmer for me.
The breakfast was superb, a fantastic range of foods juice and hot drinks. The room had a nice bathroom and plenty of storage space. The staff were very good, helpful and polite.

United KingdomIn reality it’s more golf resort with leisure facilities (which could do with a refresh) than an a actual spa which also has swimming lessons for the locals as well as a gym too. The hotel is really nice but it’s very expensive to eat or drink there - £15 for a glass of your average white wine isn’t really fair. It’s ok to be a bit pricier, but the quality of the food and the drink isn’t really up to the standard you pay for.
The hotel was recently refurbished and is really nice and has this lovely feel when you arrive and the castle grounds are very grand.

United KingdomThe dining room needs a better bread knife as it was almost impossible to cut a piece off the loaf with the blunt knife supplied, although the bread itself was excellent!... I wasn't the only person having difficulty with the knife.
The breakfast was excellent. The staff worked very hard clearing tables and ensuring that all breakfast items were replenished.

United KingdomFound the evening meal to be very noisy. Had a group of i golfers on round table behind us a we could hardly hear each other. Appreciate that they too are out to enjoy themselves but felt a little word to keep the noise down would have been appreciated. Spoilt the evening for us.
The hotel and rooms were lovely. We stayed in one of the houses across the way.

United KingdomNo milk left in the room for tea or coffee. Window was dirty but overlooked lake so maybe that was why. Drops of paint on window glass where last painted & not wiped off at the time, same with external door plate - more care when redecorating.
Very peaceful & beautiful scenery from the window. Grounds immaculately kept. Bathroom very clean & bed very comfortable (and large!)

United KingdomWe had a room on the lower floor that had a view of a bank that had brambles growing on it. The room was like a budget hotel room - it was nice enough but we saw no evidence of why it had been rated 4 starts, it is definitely not a 4-star hotel. The bar staff were really good.
The pool was good. Reception was interesting and not very clear about checking in so I ended up logging my bags around most of the site only to return to the same place to check in!

United KingdomIt was on a golf course, which my husband was really excited about, except he couldn’t get a slot at all to play, and when he wanted to use the driving range, the machine that drives the balls was broken, so it was closed. That was the only disappointing thing about our stay.
Beautiful grounds and setting, lovely facilities.
