My partner and I stayed here in March 2022 and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful giving us info on where to go in the evening. Great location for hiking up in the fells (few different trails to chose from), walking around Grasmere and Rydal Water and can easily walk to Ambleside. The breakfast was also amazing. Already decided between us that we will be returning!

Everything was perfect even the weather.

Exceptional accommodation. Location perfect. Stunning landscape, once parked there was no need to use it until we checked out. Lovely walks, brilliant bus service to surrounding areas. Helena and Mark were wonderful hosts,. Made us feel very welcome and always happy to answer questions about the area and offer advice. Breakfast was superb. Only downside was we couldn't have stayed longer. We will definitely stay here again.

The room was alittle warm, but had a fan.

Great little b and b. The people who run Rydal lodge are great, they're really lovely and care that your happy and have everything you need. Its in a great location by the river and lake, and we could leave our car there and explore all around Rydal and Grasmere. The breakfast was one of the best we had! And the building is full of

There is some maintenance needed in some of the rooms, minor wear and tear that needs seeing too, but nothing major. A little on the pricey side, but absolutely worth it!

Such a warm welcome from the owners, they literally couldn't be more helpful! The building and rooms have a lovely old world charm about them and are well appointed. Comfy beds and excellent tea & coffee facilities. Breakfast was yummy and the booking system for meals was so simple to use. The Badgers Bar just along the road was an excellent recommendation for evening meals, but get in there early if you want to eat. The place is a treasure trove, outstanding location, plenty of maps and resources for walkers and a neat 'honesty' bar in the evening which was very reasonably priced. Beautiful garden area right next to the river for relaxing in and in the evening we were enjoying a very nice bottle of wine on front of the log fire, bliss!

    N/A

It was a lovely, idyllic countryside lodge. Had a river running just by the garden at the back and was incredible. The staff were faultless and contributed so much to the trip. Gave loads of information about Ambleside and the ferry system, along with a map showing the routes of nearby walks. Free Wi-Fi and parking. An all around great stay, and will definitely come to stay again.

I am sure there was nicer rooms there but room 4 was a classic double and very small and shower not great also right on a noisy road at that side. So next time I would definitely ask for another room.

The breakfast was really nice and could not fault and the garden running down to the river was lovely . It was also good that there was a well stocked honesty bar if you fancied a drink. The hosts seemed very friendly. It was a very good location for walking with some very good walks right in the doorstep which we really enjoyed .

    Couldn't have wished for better!

The friendliness and helpfulness of mine hosts were exceptional! Breakfasts were superb and beautifully served on lovely chinaware. Cleanliness was tip top and all facilities - beds, lounge ... - were very comfortable. There is a well-stocked honesty bar and a fine collection of books and maps, for enjoyment in front of the woodstove. The garden is lovely and extensive and it is immediately on the banks of the River Rothay. There is plenty of convenient parking - and there is a good pub/hotel/restaurant only 100 yards away.

I had the most lovely little suite with an attractive outlook in a beautiful 16C building. It had somewhere to sit during the evening as well as the usual bedroom and shower facility. There was a bar and a library for guests and a pretty garden. Covid restrictions were closely observed. Rydal Hall with its lovely house and grounds is very close, as is Grasmere. Very convenient situation for getting around the Lake District either by car or public transport.

Not much needed to improve. Such a lovely experience. Cozy ambiance. We definitely want to repeat the experience.

It was such a nice surprise. Wonderful breakfast, best Cumberland sausages I ever had. Every evening we would choose from a long list of items what to have for breakfast. Just tick the list and put it in a jar. Very convenient. The couple that runs the place were so lovely and helpful. Useful tips on what to do in town and nearby hikes. We could not have been happier!
