The hotel is lacking a little care and attention. Furniture in room not in best state, better room cleaning required and visible maintenance issues inside hotel and out. Bed a little soft for my liking but, that said, had a good night's sleep both nights. Discovered snooker room too late to have a game, but that was my own fault.

Tucked away off the main roads provided for a quiet location with well maintained gardens. Reception staff very helpful both whilst there and after leaving when they and housekeeping located an item I left in our room and looked to post it back to me.

The bike store has a big warning sign with skull saying it has absestos??? Its a bit worrying.

The hotel sits in lovely grounds by a golf course. It has the air of bygone glory but in terms of room cleanliness and for me as cycle.tourist it was perfect.

Room slightly tired but it meant we didn't worry so much about dog being with us. Large bathroom. No real negatives at this hotel for us.

Friendly staff, dog friendly hotel, good breakfast, room nice enough,, great value, good former golf course on doorstep to walk dog, would be a good selling point to tell customers about who are travelling with dogs, great base to explore days out on IOW.

No pool as pictured, a little dog eared and the entertainment was ridiculous. No food for evening meal as was all booked and staff shortage, however this benefitted us as where we went for food was amazing

Room was clean and comfortable bed etc. Shower was hot but was more of a dribble than a shower. Grounds were nice and breakfast, albeit it lacking in quantity and availability due to staff shortage it was nice

Checking was so late mbwe had to sit and wait for more than 2 hours. They said they don't have staff......it's not our problem. But we got 1 hour to check out and the change for it. Is it reasonable?

The room wasn`t as nice as the previous visit

The location is good for us as we have to travel often to the IOW. The hotel is quite dated in the room we stayed in. The bed wasn`t so comfortable as it was when we stayed in a different room on a previous visit. Its nice to have a bar to go to so you can have a drink and retire for the evening. We can't speak about food as we haven't eaten there.

Breakfast was the same every day and if you arrived late (half an hour before the end of breakfast time) it was limited and some things were not replenished. There was only a choice of ready-made coffee/black tea but they did provide us with cups of boiled water for the tea bags, which we had brought ourselves! The only hotel I have ever been in that didn't offer a variety of teas! Our bed was ok but that of our son was extremely uncomfortable, it sagged in several places! The bath was very slippy, bath mats recommended! The chairs and tables on the terrace, where the swimming pool used to be, were full of cobwebs, obviously not been cleaned for some time!

Beautiful setting with nice walks for the dog. The rooms with terrace are an added bonus. Dogs allowed in the breakfast room at certain tables, which was perfect. The hotel has a lot of history, pity that the tradition is lost.

The hotel looked very tired with some rotton window frames, and work needed to be done in a number of areas. We understand though that the hotel is currently up for sale so this might be why this has not been done.

The room was clean and comfortable and we had an outside patio and seating area. It was very hot during our stay so this was welcome plus we had a fan in the room The gardens were quite pretty and there were lots of other seating areas both inside and outside the hotel.

The shower cut out mid shower after turning it on and off again for 10 minutes it started back up, seemed to cut out intermittently left that morning so didn’t bother to ask to change room Generally clean but few stains on bathroom door and few hairs in sink Room was only about £50 a night however have stayed in hostels for less that have been better.

The bed was comfy, view was nice

The bar was initially closed at around 2 die to staffing issues. Not a huge problem as it's very close to town with plenty of other places

The staff were really friendly, entertainment was good fun. We asked for ground floor which was provided and made our stay more pleasurable.

The restaurant hours! Closing at 7 pm is a ridiculous time, especially on a Saturday. This meant we had to walk into Sandown both evenings for our evening meal. We both have arthritis in our knees, so it was challenging as it's uphill and downhill both ways. We didn't want to drive as we have a van and would have had nowhere to park on our return. When we asked about having a bar snack, we were informed they were only available in the afternoons!

The hotel and staff were excellent. The room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. The tea and coffee etc was well stocked. The shower was fabulous with plenty of room.
