Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

DenmarkUnfortunately the room wasn’t clean when I arrived. I’ve got photos of the toilet which had pee all around it (on the floor), a broken toilet brush, no hand soap, coffee on the wall (like?), dirty sheets, mold all over the bathroom ceiling and dirt on the wall next to the bed :(( I went to the reception the morning after my arrival (I got in late) and the guy said that I should come back when I check out and speak to his manager then. He offered me another room, which I declined, as I’d prefer not having to move all my stuff - so I asked if someone could please come and clean the room AND I’d like some discount at checkout as this is just not alright. I also asked how often the rooms get cleaned, to which he replied every other day. I was there for 4 nights and my room did not get cleaned one single time, EVEN WHEN I asked politely - that is not okay. An addition: a few days after I booked my stay, the hotel informs me that there’s some maintenance going on in the building, which would have been alright if everything else has been as it should have - which it wasn’t. Instead, the room was disgusting AND the building looked wrecked with an undone floor and painting everywhere. This seriously calls for a discount, which I did ask for..
The location has to be the only positive thing I’ve got to say about my stay at the Grapevine hotel.

EstoniaThe bathroom was across the corridor.
It is a very cheap hotel and lived up to expectations. Clean but ascetic room had a kettle, sugar, milk, coffee and tea. Comfortable beds with lots of pillows. Bathroom had maybe not the cleanest floor but shower was working and water was hot.

United KingdomInside our room it was very messy as they had been doing work and left things in our room, The room was very tiny and the bathroom was so small you could go to the toilet and shower at the same time.
The location was ideal and you could leave luggage with the hotel if your room wasn't ready.

United KingdomCould not control the heat in the room, radiator on full & could not turn it down. The window did not stay open to give ventilation. Although generally clean, what looked like coffee splashed down ensuite wall by sink. There was no room between the beds: in total 1x double & 2x singles crammed into a very small room.
Check & check out, clean bedding, shower & toilet worked ok

United KingdomThe property itself is falling apart and needs alot of work. Its generally run down. But there were people in there working so I guess they are trying to improve it. In the communal areas There are holes in the floor the carpets are dirty and the Banister on the stairs if unsafe.
The room was ok, it was clean. But very small. Was a very cheap place to stay but I wouldn't use it as anymore than a quick stop over.

United KingdomYou apply at the Sheriff Hotel reception which dealt with reservations for the Grapevine when we handed our keys back on departure this was unattended and our room was not serviced whilst out pursuing our holiday whims. We were told that a pipe had burst and remedial work was taking place in another room, hopefully, this will be extended to deal with the small but annoying maintenance necessary in Room 6 of the Grapevine. It was a small room and you needed to sit on the end of the bed no room for chairs, a clothes stand/station was provided rather than a wardrobe. Neither of us chose to brave the shower, the cubicle was fine but the head was very heavily encrusted with limescale and unusually the wash basin was in the sleeping section, The step to the toilet and shower was quite tall and the door did not close fully the catch plate being bent and misshapen on the frame and the frame woodwork had slight damage. There was lots of Toilet paper. Perhaps due to the work on plumbing the sink did not drain fast. A bulb was missing from the overhead light and I suspect the "tiny" TV's 'remote needs new Batteries.
The combination light ceiling fan cooled the room very fast and had the power of a Flying fortress Engine and three speeds. Tea and Coffee was provided this was servable in plastic and polystyrene rather than reusable crockery. Soaps and shower gel were provided with towels We slept well, the headboard being fixed to the wall and the mattress on a three-quarter bed was firm and on castors so rolled a little . Bedlinen was a little thin. There was no noise from other residents and after short time street sounds were minimal. There was NO BREAKFAST and posters in the room were outdated and mentioned a Breakfast room, the electricals were scruffy and no extra sockets other than the two and a travel socket at the kettle point were in evidence. We had enough to recharge phones and laptops and the WIFI was free and reliable though not strongly passworded.
