The reception staff weren’t friendly, one of the keys for the room didn’t work so we were locked out of the room and we were in an underground room with no window. We had booked a delux room and if that was one then goodness help those in the basic room. It was dark and dingy without lights and was extremely small.

A lovely old building with a beautiful reception area and excellent door and security staff. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was nicely appointed.

The room itself was a bit dated. The majority of the plugs did not work which was also a pain.

The location was great, the staff were really attentive and made you well welcome. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was really lovely.

As the other reviews say it does look a bit tired, room was smaller than we had hoped for. Bed kind of dips and is soft. Perfect for me but not my partner.

Excellent location. The bath robes are the softest ever I wanted to take them home. Staff are very friendly. Nice water from reception, I’m now adding oranges all the time. Nice little touch.

Our room was ready on arrival but if we wanted to check in early we would have had to pay £50 which I thought was a bit steep! Needless to say we just left our bags and decided not to check in early!

Booked a twin room but had to ask for it to be made into twin on arrival. Had been set as a double. Upon changing to twin the gap between beds was extremely small! Very noisy room from something outside of the room. It seemed to stop after midnight-1pm then resume around 7am. No hand wash in the bathroom. Bathroom (shower) rather run down Lift to our room smelled badly of smoke

Location was great for the business trip. Breakfast was good. Beds were comfortable.

Really lovely however in my room some of the curtain had come away from the rail. Also, the plug in the bath was really difficult to open/close and kept coming off in my hand!

Coffee machine was broken at Breakfast and the UHT milk in my room was off. I didn't think UHT milk could go off, until I visited the Montcalm.

Overall presentation of the hotel was good and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Lot's of little broken things, non working lightbulbs, broken handles, knobs... it seems that they are not so focused on maintenance. The room didn't have a proper window, just some very small light ways - not useful

Extremely comfortable bed, big bathroom, attentive and courteous staff, top notch cleanliness, very well served breakfast despite a little over the price. Good sound isolation and good taste decoration.

In our room there were multiple items which were damaged or broken including the shower head and curtain railings. When we got into our room all the cupboards doors and drawers were open which was really strange

Breakfast was ok, it lacked quantity especially on the English Breakfast since it was £19 per day which is significantly overpriced for what was available.

Rooms were comfy and spacious. Liked having a seperate comfy chair to sit in that wasnt a desk chair.
