How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The decor was a little more "retro" than expected, but it was clean and didn't impact our trip. If anything it was quite charming.
Staff were excellent. It felt very warm and friendly. The room was a good size with a nice view over the river and a decent shower. Good sized car park and an easy walk into the centre.

The hotel staff were outstanding!! Breakfast was excellent. Rooms very clean . Dianne and rob the chef excellent hosts . Recommend them to everyone. Definitely go back .

It is a little bit dated but is still fine.
The staff are friendly. Car park is very useful. Location is convenient. Rooms a bit dated but clean and got everything you need, even cans of water! We had room 4 on ground floor this time and that was the nicest room so far we have stayed in at this hotel.

The heather make a noise occasionally and wake us up. We found a little spider on the floor in the morning.
Friendly staff. The room is warm and overall is as good as the value we pay. And it’s at a good location.

There were a few things that could be improved upon in order to make the price paid match our expectations. The sink in our en-suite had a huge crack running through it, the radiator could not be turned down so it was extremely warm in the room which meant we had to leave the window open all night (not ideal on the ground floor). The view out of our window was beautiful but marred by weeds, rubbish etc immediately outside.
Firstly the staff were very friendly, helpful and professional, a very good first impression when arriving which continued during our stay. Our room was a lovely size and overlooked the water which was a bonus. Breakfast was tasty and well hosted.

The hotel is situated just on the edge of town and only a short walk away from the town centre. There is ample car parking, the room was nicely decorated and very comfortable, breakfast was excellent both in terms of quality and choice and staff were friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

We like to sleep in for a while when we take a break. The cleaning staff were having discussions outside our door loudly continually from about 8am. Also we had to hand our key in whenever we left the building, which was fine, but when we returned in the evening the gentleman covering the night shift was laid out across the settee which was a bit off putting and whenever we bought a drink in the evening he said the card machine wasn’t working and we had to put the bill on our room which we prefer not to do.
Location was great, most of the staff were lovely and friendly and the breakfast was fab.
