The location was superb, a pretty village in picturesque countryside. The staff were beyond friendly. So welcoming and attentive during our stay. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast had a good selection of choices. The kippers were delicious. I had them every morning. The full English looked good and well cooked.

The bedroom was a little tired, but spotless. Unfortunately we found the bed uncomfortable. It was a good size, but you could feel the springs! This could be easily rectified with a mattress topper. Pillows could also do with replacing as they were a bit flat. A bit too far away from anywhere else.

The staff were really friendly and helpful. The food is really good, well cooked, tasty and nicely presented. Also very reasonably priced. Breakfast was freshly cooked and very good.

We stayed in the French room, which wasn’t en suite, but had a private bathroom across the landing. Not a problem at all, the provided bath robes were a nice touch. The sloping bedroom floor was challenging for my partner, but the building is old with character. The bed was comfortable and we slept well enough, my only criticism would be that the traditional sheet, blanket and eiderdown combo was a little heavy for us, - being soft southerners used to a duvet.

I couldn’t fault the quality of service by the staff who were engaging and professional. The evening menu was not extensive but the choice was good with the food being beautifully cooked and presented without any delay. Breakfast set us up for day, again with good choices. Woody particularly enjoyed his sausage! All in all our stay was enjoyable, made so by the kindness, attention and professionalism of the staff and owners, and the ambience created by the stove and the friendliness of the locals. We visited in February, miserably wet and cold, but we’ve every intention to return later in the year when the sun is hopefully out.

Nothing about anything to do with our stay. We loved it and want to return. The only downside in my personal opinion are some of the locals...whilst not friendly nor unfriendly, the feeling they provided was that you are in the way.

Everything. The owners visible, friendly and welcoming. Staff the same...totally 'on it' and cannot do enough for you. Food superb...our room was outstanding.

This is our second stay at the Tankerville Arms and it won’t be our last ! The owners are super friendly, the lovely staff can’t do enough for you, the food especially breakfast is fantastic and the rooms and facilities are wonderful, but the best bit is we can bring our dogs. Lovely location with beautiful beaches a short drive away.

Nothing but be aware that the French Room has a separate (private) bathroom so you do have to cross the small landing to access it. The bathroom was very warm, clean & modern though.

The food was excellent - both the evening meal and the generous breakfast. The room was clean and cosy. There was an air conditioning unit so we could get a bit more warmth when it got a bit cold - we visited in November. It’s not far to Chillingham Castle & Alnwick.

Smell of smoking from smoking area at bottom of stairs next to bedroom was invasive at times.

This is a picture postcard English Inn! So cosy and welcoming and also a good food Inn. Breakfast was excellent and we ate in the restaurant on the night we arrived. Delicious food! Loved our room, with dressing gowns, fresh milk in the fridge etc. Very friendly and flexible staff who even laid on breakfast for us earlier than normal so that we could get to Lindisfarne with enough time to look around before the tide came in! Would love to stay here again!
