How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Lounge and bar a little disjointed, not very inviting
The breakfast was lovely, a lot of choices, well cooked and presented. The hotel was perfectly positioned between Windemere and Bo'ness.

Nothing not to like.
Great location with plenty of parking. Bus stop outside. Comfortable bed and good facilities in the room. Breakfast lovely with good choice and great staff team.

Evening meals not provided for but many dining establishments nearby
Loved the setting.Lake Windermere walkable in both directions. Gently down hill to main ferries. Bus stop nearby if difficulty walking. The open top tour buses could be accessed from same stop. Many bars & restaurants & shops in both directions. Rooms adequate & comfortably furnished. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits provided & making facilities in room. Lovely dining room for good choice breakfast, 3 time sessions to choose from. Meal really good Staff excellent, polite & took time to answer queries. Elegant sitting room. Bar open but we didn’t use.

Although the hotel was set in picturesque surroundings with the woods around it and our room was close to a river or stream that was lovely to hear at night time, we just felt the hotel was slightly too far of a walk from the centre and the lake especially if it is a rainy day, not so bad when the weather is nice. Not enough to stop us from staying here again though.
The hotel was lovely and clean, the staff were ALL very friendly and welcoming and couldn't do enough for us, from the minute we walked through the door, the reception staff were really friendly and made us feel very welcome. The bedroom Was very clean and the beds were really comfortable, a lovely little touch with the chocolates on the bed. The breakfast in the morning was delicious, the full English was probably one of the best we have ever tasted, all the produce tasted really fresh and the food came out piping hot on warmed up plates. The young staff serving our breakfast were so attentive and polite and made sure we were very well looked after. All round beautiful hotel and a perfect stay.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast served quickly. Location is great and parking due booking the Whirlpool room is right in front of the window. Weather was also excellent which made our stay much better. Not the first time and definitely not the last. Worth the money.

Nothing, everyone was helpful, polite, and friendly.
The staff were very accommodating and helpful, we turned up with an office chair we purchased before arriving and were very good to let us keep the chair safe with them for the duration of our stay. The breakfast was delicious and very hot everyday and the staff were very friendly and helpful answering any questions we asked during our stay, they even allowed us to fill our large drinks bottles with ice and water with cordial to keep our drinks cold at no extra cost everyday.

One of the beds (room 1, nearest the window) had collapsed on the left hand side. Not the best nights sleep. Shower door didn’t shut properly. Glass shelf above the sink was a hinderance (one of my pet hates)
Well located for Bowness and also Windermere. Close to the station. Clean. Easy check in. Well priced for the area.

Bedroom (Glenburn side) could do with a full length mirror. I hadn't realised that the hotel had expanded to take over the previous incarnation "Glenburn" nextdoor. The rooms are nowhere near as nice as the original Woodlands. My mistake, I will need to pay more attention when booking next time to ensure I get a room in Woodlands side.
Very good breakfast and friendly staff. Location is ideally situated between Windermere and Bowness, both just 10-15min walk away and handy to enjoy different bars and restaurants, especially if staying for more than 1 night.

The staff we're really friendly. Breakfast was lovely. You weren't kept waiting for anything. Rooms we're spacious and bathroom was large. It's really clean. Definitely going back again. Would highly recommend this accommodation
