Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Czech RepublicThe hotel presents itself better than it actually is. Don't expect 4 star service. There is not even a piece of fresh fruit in the bars in the hotel complex. Cocktails and drinks from the supermarket. The staff will not do anything extra or a custom order is not possible. The hotel's effort to charge extra for details seems ridiculous. The area is nice, but it is divided into a central, very noisy family part with children, and a newly completed part where it is quiet. The towels were repeatedly dirty.
The hotel is large and has a good variety of food for breakfast and dinner. Close to the beach. Good pools.

Comfort beds, clean room, nice pools, very good food (breakfast and dinner). It is really green resort with friendly stuff and even that is quite big you don’t feel that it is croudy (when we were staying, all rooms were full).

SlovakiaNothing attributable to the hotel - only that northern prt of the island tends to be windy and there may be more waves then you wished for.
Horizon Beach is a comfortable, clean and well designed resort on the northern coast of Kos. We have been lucky that our room was in one of the buildings parallel to the beach, so it had a beautifull sea view, but I am sure other rooms were pleasant to stay at as well. I especially like resorts that comprise of smaller buildings not a monster hotels and provide a space and privacy, which both were plenty of in Horizon. There are enough bars, restaurants, pools and sport facilities so the holidaymakers may be satisfied to stay in the resort and always find things to do. I also loath AI hotels that encourage waste and consumerism so concept of halfboard in Horizon is well to my taste (although there was plenty of food too). All in all, we have been satisfied and would come again. I may also mention that beach here is large and incomparable with nearby 5* hotels, which we checked and both have minuscule beaches. Some people may not like paying for beach lounges, but it assures there is plenty of space along the beach and certainly no towels placing in the morning.

AustriaThere are two dining halls where you can eat in the hotel. Go to the restaurant which is NOT close to the Reception, they have very friendly staff (e.g. Elizaveta) there and are better organized. The restaurant closer to Reception has very unfriendly staff, not to say RUDE when we did not YET want to order drinks at the dinner. We travelled with friends and once their baby made a food mess under baby chair. One waiter, Giannis, was openly upset about it, aggressively moving chairs when cleaning, looking at other quests whether this is normal, throwing his hands in the air. The cleaning ladies were extremely loud in the morning. They woke us up almost every day at 7:50 in the morning. They were shouting at each other from a balcony of one house to a balcony of another house. This was quite upsetting since we wanted to sleep longer. The food, though extremely tasty, was not rotated very often so 2 week stay could then become a bit tricky when it comes to meal choices. But 10 days were exactly enough.
The food was extremely tasty, the hotel gardens are BEAUTUFUL and offer paths for a nice stroller walk, beach access is nice. Our daughter (5years old) enjoyed the KidsClub a lot. Also, the evening Kids Disco is a highlight for kids. We also liked that the evening hotel program ends before 23:00 every day, I think even earlier. We enjoyed the tennis place (4 EUR per hour) and the 4 pools are just great. Close by the hotel you can go for beach horse and/or ponny ride, info in the hotel. We did it with our daughter (30 min for all of us for about EUR 50) and I would very much recommend it, it is a great experience.

SwitzerlandThe only drawback is the size of the resort and the large number of families with small children. There are lots of people coming and going and children crying. Nevertheless our room was relatively quiet and we could sleep well. The only other thing to mention is that over 90% of the guests are German-speaking.
Beautiful four star resort with excellent food and a fantastic beach! We were there for the second time. The staff are friendly, quick and efficient. The grounds are beautifully maintained. The beach has white sand and clear water. The breakfast and dinner buffets were excellent with lots of different foods to choose from.

United KingdomMinor criticism is that they could have recycle bins.
The staff are so friendly and hard working. The resort is immaculate and wonderfully run with beautifully manicured gardens. We loved the half board option and used the bars and beach club for lunch. We spent the day in either 1 of the 4 fabulous pools, at the lovely sea which the hotel sits on, kayaking, horse riding at Erika’s or using the gorgeous relaxing SPA facilities. A perfect week.

Austria, One has to pay for extra services which could easily be included in a full price like dinner water (3 Euros a bottle) at the restaurant, or the beach beds (3 Euros each). For breakfast, only filter coffee is for free but its quality can vary. The reception staff could definitely be more friendly and helpful.
Wonderful large hotel situated on the beach few kilometers from Mastichari, offering half-board accommodation. The large and well maintained rooms are situated in two or three-floor buildings and offer a great comfort (good quality beds). Two buffet restaurants are serving breakfast and dinner, while a burger bar and a taverna are the lunch options, all serving excellent quality dishes. On top of it, a so called wine bar offers additional fine dining options but unfortunately the wine selection is minimal.

SwitzerlandSometimes we found the animation at the nearby pool a little loud. On the other hand, the music at night was quite good. My husband slipped on the newly washed staircase and there was no handrail. The hotel should see to it that handrails are installed along all staircases and when the stairs are washed, the warning sign should be well placed so everyone can see it. The clientele of the hotel is largely German-speaking, so there isn't much of a Greek atmosphere. Also there are very many children, although that did not bother us. If you don't like big resorts (it is very big!), this may not be the place for you.
The beach was fantastic, sandy, clear water, beautiful view. The food buffet was just amazing, especially considering the very large number of people being served, huge selection and very well prepared. The gardens were very well maintained. The hotel is not far from the airport (10 or 15 minute ride by taxi), but there was no problem with airplane noise. The room was comfortable and spacious.

PolandEvening entertainment a bit outdated and passive, despite visible large group of young (30+) customers. Nearby Tam Tam bar offers beach party and other attractions.
Excellent service, quality modern facility, modern rooms, fast Wifi available also on the beach, excellent breakfast, including super service, a nice change for Greek hotel. Service is better than in Robinson Club Kos on the other side of the island, a nice suprise given lower price compared to robinson. Seafood at beach taverna is excellent!

GermanyWhere to begin... 1) Paid for a sea-view room and there was a building in front of our balcony. Called reception to complain and they said that "sea-view" does not mean you can SEE the SEA, it just means facing in that direction! After asking to speak to the manager they agreed to switch us to a "partial ACTUAL sea view". 2) It was meant to be inclusive of breakfast and dinner. Guess what is not included? DRINKING WATER during your meal. I understand having to buy your own drinks for your room but surely during dinner water should be included. 3) Food was terrible! A VERY wide variety of poor-quality food which was not even Greek cuisine! Mastichari is known for its amazing restaurants so do yourself a favor and DO NOT book the all-inclusive if you still choose to stay here. 4) Common courtesy items such as beach towels are EXTRA PER USE. It is normal to pay a deposit for these in other Greek hotels which you then receive back upon returning your towel at the end of your stay. 5) As other reviews mention, the hotel was basically "Little Germany" and did not provide an authentic experience of Kos. The Greek staff was even told they had to speak in German to the guests as this was most of their clientele.
The rooms were clean. If you are 65+, want to be in Germany but simultaneously be in a warmer climate this is the place for you!
