How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

My wood flooring next to the bed creaked every time I walked on or near it. Minor, but just a bit irritating.
Quaint and comfortable. It was clean accessible and convenient. Nice breakfast with very tasty daily aperitifs offered.

The property had the charm I was expecting. Very friendly staff, terrific breakfast, original building character remained in stair cases and rooms, and bonus museum of Victorian records players in the basement. Very easy to walk to wherever you need to go.

Customers in restaurant across the street could be a little loud at times, when windows were open, but not too bad.
Staff went out of their way to be helpful. Room was comfortable with good size balcony and location was convenient. Breakfast was great with a lot of variety and everything we needed to start the day. Staff provided very useful recommendations. The building and furnishings were interesting and elegant - high ceilings, chandeliers and wall art

Staff was able to let us check into our room early as our cruise ship arrived in the morning. The facility was beautiful, and the staff was very helpful and friendly. We had a beautiful view from our balcony.

Small rooms no place to put luggage away. I made a suggestion to raise there beds which would be easy to do so you could store luggage

Nothing at all to dislike
Lovely welcoming, friendly helpful staff who could not do anymore to make our stay more comfortable. The room was very comfortable and had everything you need. The toiletries were lovely. Kettle in the room. Loved the view of the Acropolis from our room. If we are lucky enough to return to Athens we will definitely go back to Home Sweet Home. Breakfast was very good. Location was very good. Everything walking distance

The hotel is located in a very central area. We walked to the acropolis from the hotel, the palace, and some othrr attractions. It is surrounded by lots of great restaurants, cafes and shops. The rooms were clean. Breakfast was nice, plenty of options. The staff in this hotel were what made it great for us. They could not have been more helpful. I would definitely stay here again should I visit Athens. I was travelling with children and they were very warm and couldn't do enough for us.

Truly, nothing.all was beyond every imagination
This is literally the home away from home. From Aphrodite the owner to all the stuff - all smiling, helpful, kind. All clean, cozy, well decorated, food is amazing. All you need in a hotel

The room I was in had no view of anything but a ventilation shaft. But I’m not sure what kinds of views other rooms had. I’d have liked more fresh air in the room. Beds were very comfy though and it was quiet so I got to sleep without any disruption.
The location was excellent as it was convenient to sites and sights. Yet, it was on a small quiet street. The staff were phenomenal at their jobs and so friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were AMAZING! And extremely delicious.

It’s in the heart of everything you wish to be close to in Athens but quiet and peaceful when you sleep. Warm, comfortable bed and shower, amazing breakfast and the staff is kind, going above and beyond to make your stay perfect. Don’t hesitate because it books quickly!

I stayed in one of the smallest rooms in the attic and you could hear the neighbours quite clearly. Not a big deal at all, and still this was a very good value for money stay.
All in all wonderful, though the breakfast buffet is vastly exaggerated in many reviews; it is a good, but by no means spectacular, breakfast. The location is brilliant and the staff couldn't be more helpful. I'll be coming back!
