Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI loved everything. It is a simple bucket shower - which might put some people off. But here, it was in a separate (spacious) room from the toilet and was always clean. For me it was part of the charm of the place. Everything simple but comfortable.
Staying here was the highlight of a wonderful holiday in Raja Ampat. It is an idyllic, peaceful paradise. Nick is a wonderful host who organised for us to do everything we wanted (and at a very fair price). Food was excellent and plentiful. Lots of tasty vegetable dishes as well as fish. Our only wish was that we could have longer here, just exploring the house reef and photographing all the birds and other wildlife in the garden and forests. Really can’t recommend here highly enough.

CanadaWe had to ask more than once to receive towels, and the bathroom (only one for all huts) was not serviced (we had to ask to have the trash can dumped, and the toilet paper refilled). It would also be nice to have more effective communication regarding departure times for excursions, as this changed regularly. Finally, our first day we received a cooked breakfast, but after that there was only doughnuts or similar, which was disappointing on days that we were headed for excursions.
The location on the Fam Islands was excellent, placing us a short boat ride to both Manta Point and (in the other direction) Piyanemo, Star Lagoon, etc. Nick’s cost for excursions was reasonable, and we saw tons of manta! The dining hut over the water gave a lovely view, and the fresh fish and vegetables were delicious. Our hut had a lovely view, direct access to snorkeling, and comfortable sun beds to relax on. Overall, excellent value.

BelgiumWe had a marvellous stay with Nick at Meos Ambower. The bungalows over the water with the house reef right in front is extraordinary. Baby reefsharks visiting, swimming underneath, a beautiful sunrise and sunset right in front is a dream come true. The common room has excellent 360degree view over the beautiful reef. Plenty of food options and always fresh. The staff is super friendly, helpful and always ready to go on an adventure. We went swimming with the mantas, which is just a 10 minute boat ride from the homestay. Cristal clear emerald blue water and playful mantas. We had a fabulous stay and will definitely visit again! AustraliaNick runs a tight ship. They have an artwork in the dining room bungalow (which is over an exceptional reef with a resident moray, big barracuda and when we were there some dense schools of fish) that describes the various trips that they offer and the prices. Prices are for the boat and only become per person if it's for more than four people. Our stay ended up cheaper than expected! They also have a new boat for snorkel trips that fits 8-10 people under cover and gets you to locations faster and safer (dual outboard) Every time we looked for Manta we found them.

AustraliaThe tropical heat at night is really hot and there is often no breeze. It was quite hard some nights to sleep - most huts are simple mattresses on the floor. One hut has a spring mattress on a bed base. This is best described as basic accommodation in a pristine and beautiful natural setting.
Meos Ambower is a fairytale place where your wooden bungalow sits over pristine coral reef and Thousands of fish swim out the front of your hut. The homestay is a fantastic authentic experience with beautiful snorkelling trips close by. I was amazed to see the moon rise over the sea and a sky filled with stars as well as bioluminescent creatures swimming by my front door.

SpainVery basic bathroom services, you need to walk a bit to get there. But the paradise there makes you forget about it. Food could be better on quantity and options.
The place is amazing, you stay on a house over the water full of coral and underwater life. There ware two small baby sharks always under our house. It is a place like paradise. You can go swim or snorkel directly from the house. Good and comfy bed and correct food.

United KingdomFood was ok. We had vegetables, fish, meat, and fruits every day. But it wasn’t enough for the whole homestay. Unfortunately some people serve themselves a big plates, and if you are last you get what is left. They don’t replenish dishes. Only one toilet and bucket shower for the whole homestay. We were full when we were there, which means one toilet for 12 people… not great. But overall we had a great time, amazing parrots and birds sounds plus if you are lucky, stars at around 2am are unbelievable!!! We never saw anything like it! So worth waking up and star at those enormous stars and galaxies!!!
We had a lovely bungalow on this homestay. It was very nice to have some long chairs with cushions to chill on our little decking outside. Great to have our own ladder to go straight in the sea from our bungalow. The snorkling around the island is nice, plenty to see, if you snorkel at the right time of day and the visibility is clear. Many little baby sharks outside our bungalow. Everyday at 4pm we have some snack and some amazing donuts! Such a treat in Raja almost to have a something sweets and so nice! Restaurant area is lovely and everyday at 6pm we get some WiFi and can connect with the rest of the world!

The homestay is located in a very beautiful lagoon with a stunning coral reef right in front of the bungalows. Sleeping so close to the sea is amazing. We could see baby sharks in the shallow water. Don’t expect luxury but compared to the standards in Raja everything was perfect, comfortable balcony and chairs and clean. The owner Nick is chilled and helpful all the time. He and his guys made an effort in showing us the amazing coconutcrabs at night time. You don’t finde them in many places.

Czech RepublicWe had an amazing adventure on Meos Ambower. Above all, Nick and his family are very nice people and try to fulfill every wish you have. At night, for example, they did not hesitate to bring us a chilled beer from the village on the next island, they stocked up on Fanta and Coca Cola, when they found out that we loved them, they took our son to fish with a harpoon on the open sea, they prepared the fish that our children caught from the moles/decks and etc. And this is what makes this accommodation special. Of course, the houses are above the water on a beautiful small island, they are all clean, with a mattress or a bed and a mosquito net. The toilet and the possibility of rinsing with water is basic, as in other homestays in this location, but everything is clean and constantly cleaned. There is plenty of food and it is very good, especially fish and homemade cakes. Fruit is served for lunch and dinner, coconut is available whenever you say you want one. In addition, we were lucky to have wonderful guests in other houses and together we enjoyed a wonderful time on the island and on some trips that we decided to go on together with them. Prices for shipping to Waisai and on trips are not exorbitant because they are really long distances. We definitely recommend a trip to the opposite island, where there are large beaches with very fine sand, gradual access to the sea, in which there are beautiful corals and is full of blue starfish right from the start.

South AfricaPlease do know, that the boat ride is more than 2 hours in an open, one and half meter wide boat, full in the sun, on the heat of the day. This, after arriving by ferry from Sorong, which also takes more than 2 hours. The rooms are huts above the water, the bed is comfy, but for the rest there is no comfort. The toilet is very basic, but clean, the shower, is a bucket. The food is basic but good, and healthy. Despite that, the experience is super.
The setting of the homestay is magnificent, you can see and hear the bigger fish hunting smaller fish, right below your hut. Even baby sharks and stingrays can be seen. The full moon nights are otherworldly.

United Arab EmiratesFood options were few and often on the spicy side.
Nick is on top of everything and makes the whole stay smooth. He also offers very well priced snorkeling and adventure trips to nearby islands. Piyanemo is only 15min away and multiple amazing coral reefs are at a short boat ride distance. There’s a beautiful private beach on the other side of the island reachable with a short walk through the forest. House reef is lovely.
