How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Very good hotel. Room large and clean. Staff very friendly. Breakfast is very good. The coffee in the restaurant was very good, also the juices.

A swimming pool at the hotel would be nice since there is nothing else to do in Pangkalabun except the National Park. The breakfast buffet was a disappointment, missed pancakes, fruit yoghurt and bread alternatives

Not very clean, but clean enough to spend the night. And the breakfast is not good.
Close to the airport, good place to stay the night if you’re waiting to take a flight.

We had dinner in the restaurant which wasn’t good so I wouldn’t recommend eating there especially not the “western” food options. For the price pool would be nice.
Big rooms, clean, air conditioning worked well, breakfast good (mostly local), staff excellent, helpful with information we needed for our flight. Airport is very near, 10min by car.

It is a fair way from the centre of Pangkalanbun, but probably not an issue as it is on the right side of the city for the airport and Kumai. The bathroom was a little tired but perfectly functional.
We stayed one night before a tour on the Sekonyer river. The Arsela is architecturally very interesting and a pleasant place to stay. The room was clean and had everything we needed. Staff were friendly. We also enjoyed a meal in the adjacent and connected restaurant.

Given that everything was good, I liked the architecture. The rooms were huge! The staff was very king and available to clarification and he helped us with our local guide for the park.

Not much really! The restaurant next door was a little on the pricey side, and we didn’t find many decent warungs nearby, but there’s always the Pizza Hut next door. Wi-Fi wasn’t amazing but being pretty dramatic now.
Large clean room, comfy bed, free water, good air con, very good free breakfast included, decent restaurant on site that opens at 11, beautiful garden and grounds, pretty good location near some shops, next door to a pharmacy and opposite a Pizza Hut (don’t judge us, but the night after we got back from the jungle, we just needed some creature conforts!). Friendly staff who speak pretty good English who helped organise a taxi to the airport and even sorted out a laundry service for us that got our clothes back the same day.

The food wasn’t great and the breakfast especially. Although if you ask for espresso coffee the coffee was great.
Big room, clean and shower was good. It’s not 5* luxury but it’s perfectly fine for one night before going to the national park. Especially for the price.

For the price I think it was fine and there wasn’t much to change.
We stayed for one night. The room was large—we ordered an extra bed and it was great for a family of four (two adults and two kids 9 yo). It was basic but clean and the staff were responsive. The kids liked the breakfast a lot.

Restaurant lacked any service, and breakfast was average. Room was next to a school, so noisy very early in the morning.

04:00 wake up by the nearby mosque. The water stopped working mid-shower. Thankfully it came back on. No list but staff help with bags. Light on the air conditioning unit lit up the whole room.
Beautiful grounds. Spacious room. Spacious hotel. Beautiful hotel. Lots of choice for breakfast. Super large comfy bed. Close to convenience stores and restaurants. Restaurant onsite with amazing food. Convenient for klotok pick up and drop off. Close to the airport.

Rooms are a bit outdated but they were busy fixing things and painting. There is not much to do around the hotel but we knew this so no problem.
Fine place to stay before going into the jungle. Nothing to fancy, just okay for 1 night. the price is very good for what you get.
