How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

No curtains on the beds, something that is becoming more and more of a standard in hostels.
Cheap and a good place ti stay for a couple of nights. You can also rent a scooter here and/or tours and transportation. Staying in a 4 person dorm was a good choice.

Mosquitos in the room
Awesome stay, worth the price. Clean rooms, nice hospitality and service. The best part is the package to bromo and tumpak sewu. They just took care of everything, the main thing is that the place is really value for the money and they took care of everything. Awesome place to pitch in if you are looking for a budget stay.

No outside area to chill
Nice homestay/hostel, hosts were nice and brought us to the train station. We could even leave our stuff there to do a Bromo tour. Quite central

The owner was accommodating. I booked the tour with him as the price was reasonable. He was very helpful and gave us good tips to travel to and from Ijen and also Bromo. Breakfast was delicious!

No bedside light. Everything sticky, light fittings etc, everything could do with a scrub, only 1 toilet for whole place (though it wasn't a problem as not many there) it's no smoking but the owner did in the lounge so if you don't smoke it can be annoying
The balcony was good off the upstairs room, tea/ coffee available. Owners friendly tho not much english or info

Room wasn't really clean, the bathroom upstairs can't be locked. Overall, okay for the price and for 1-2 nights, but not more.
Food is tasty and cheap, scooter rental, relatively quiet area.

Dorm room was spacious with great aircon and the hostel is a short grab ride from the train station + night market. There's a relaxed, open air restaurant across the road called Ant which was playing live music when I arrived. I jumped onto a Bromo sunrise tour through the hostel and it was great.

There's only one toilet available for the dorms which is in the lower level..
Friendly family run hostel, super comfy beds and good common areas with tea & coffee available day long.

Cold shower
Great place for the price. Nothing fancy but you don't need it if you're just heading to the volcano. They also rented me the motorbike needed to reach Bromo

the bathroom has seen better days. it looks a bit dirty, but it's just old and needing some maintenance.
the shared room was clean and quiet, the AC and wi-fi worked well. very good location: you can walk from the train station (around 25min); there's an Indomaret nearby to buy snacks for the Bromo tour; amazing restaurant called Waroeng Chef is 3min by foot; chill café Kutuku is 5min by foot. we arranged the Bromo tour before arriving, it was awesome!

Nice host family who accepted to keep my big backpack for the previous night i stayed there as i was travelling up to cemorolawang. They are really helpfull.

As told , theres one bathroom for everybody which is a little intense in the morning.
They offer nice food with cheap price and tour with reasonable prices as well. Also because of booking , I double booked one night and they just cancelled for me.

The house is good for the value!
They where really helpful whit the excursions. Probbolingo is not a theistic city so I recommend to hire the tours to the volcano whit them

Extra common bathroom would have been great.
Staff were very helpful with organise a bike ride to Madakaripura Falls at short notice. Good location close to several restaurants.

for this price everything was great

The host helped us feel at home, but there are a few things that can be improved such as a fan in the bathroom, some extra sheet for the bed instead of directly sleeping under a blanket.
The host is nice and helped us book a tour to the Bromo as well as a transfer to Banyuwangi. We stayed in a private room. The room was quiet and okay given the reviews you read online. The food was good. Since Probolinggo is only going to be an intermediate stop, it's good value for the price.
