Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesPart of the bathroom ceiling was open to the attic above, and bits of debris had drifted onto the sink. Easy to clean and did not recur. This is the only reason for the lower cleanliness rating above.
Super-friendly, extra-helpful and informative hosts. The volcano view from my window (which other rooms don't have, but guests can enjoy it from the dining patio). Tasty breakfast. Quiet street with wide territorial view. A delightful international social scene--like the best hostels but with inexpensive private rooms. Coffee and tea available all hours. A tour of trad. villages and hot spring (a river hot along one bank and cold along the other!) with Kristian.

United StatesVery friendly family with lots of good English spoken. At the end of a private alleyway so felt very secure and quiet off the main road. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious and they fried the tofu I gave them deliciously. I unfortunately slipped while hiking 45 minutes out of Bajawa, so I got on booking and rebooked the same room because I felt they would be able to help guide me to the right hospital, and they were very helpful and kind to me throughout the rest of my stay.

AustraliaMy particular room was far from the bathroom and required walking through a common area where there were often family members - the reality of staying in a homestay but it was a little uncomfortable when showering and returning to ones room to change.
The location was great and the outside chilling areas are also very nice. Bed was comfy and wifi was good too. Sandra, the young woman who works here was wonderful and the highlight of staying here. She was great to chat to and always willing to help. Thank you Sandra for making my stay amazing :) Maria and Kristian were also very helpful when organising scooter rental and a public bus to Ruteng.

New ZealandThe people who work here are amazing! Excellent English, and suuuuuuper helpful with everything! Kristian organized all my transport for me. They also took us to a local first communion ceremony, which was really interesting. The vibe here is great, and I easily met lots of other lovely people to hang out with. Also very clean! Highly recommend!

United KingdomOnly slight let down was the shared taxi back to Labuan Bajo which we arranged via the homestay. After it arrived over an hour late we were charged more than we had initially agreed with the homestay as we had bags (who knew there was a baggage charge for Indonesian taxis!) Staff didn’t really help and we sat there for another 30mins before we had to pay up as there was no other way to Labuan Bajo (which they knew hence ripping us off)
Great Homestay. Friendly helpful staff. Tasty breakfast. Very short walk into town.

GermanyTemperatures at night dropped to 17 degrees - the blanket was quite thin so I had to sleep with my jacket and trousers. A thicker blanket would be great!
The homestay is nice, staff was helpful. I liked mostly that there was free drinking water. There are also organized day trips you can join. Even though we didn't see Kristian he was available through WhatsApp and helped us organize some transport to the bus station. Nice breakfast options to choose from. Good restaurants are within five minute walking distance. Scooter can be rented for a good price!

BelgiumWe had some compagnie off ants in the room but nothing to worry about. Shower is only cold water so keep that in mind if you like warm showers. For us it wasn’t that big issue.
Kristian is very helpfull if you need anything. The homestay looks a little off when arriving but in the end it is pleasant. Nice restaurants in the neighbourhood such as Lucas.
