I was so sad to leave, Rodney and his staff are the best hosts you could ever ask for. Amazing breakfast and dinner! Some really good laughs and memories I will never forget.

First of all , just a small advice to re-paint the wall to make looks even swankier. Secondly, I love my “family time” during my meal and wash the plate together to educate my children how to do washing up..😁 but it was pleasantly accompanied by Rodney. Genuinely there wasn’t any to complaint about. It’s just advice from my personal.

The Villa’s service was very personal and delivered in an outstanding manners. You have all you need and care with private staff that stay IN the villa. Anytime and anything you need can be taking care of. Even in the middle of night when I was desperate for something, Putu always ready to help and his wife also has brilliant skills from massage to full facial care. Swimming pool has been spark and clear as crystal. My children just want to dipped into pool 24/7, I have to stop them at 11.30 pm. Thank you to all your hospitality that has been delivered in the “first class” continuously. Excellent

I was very impressed with the response from the owner, Rodney. We are not good at English. Thank you so much for communicating with me while using the translation app! They booked us a trekking tour and even brought us breakfast. The breakfast he makes is very delicious. Best than any hotel. Even after returning to Japan, the children still talk about their stay in this villa. "Is Rodney doing well?" Thank you for a wonderful time!

This is a well-kept, beautiful, tranquil villa with lush, verdant tropical vegetation and a truly refreshing pool (unlike most pools). Don’t be put off by the distance from the main street. It’s a lovely walk through a charming village with restaurants, cafes, spas, and shops. Most times you’ll probably get a scooter ride from Rodney, the owner, anyway to cover the distance. We found the ride fun and perfectly safe even with kids (10 & 7). Which brings me to what makes this place extra special. Rodney is truly a one-of-a-kind host with a big heart. He went above and beyond – and then some – to make our stay and holiday run smoothly and make us feel welcome, relaxed, and taken care of. I mean words can’t even begin to describe his generosity. He’s just a gem. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and recommend Rodney’s place to anyone wanting to enjoy what Ubud and the surroundings have to offer. Be sure to try his cooking. What a beautiful, lovely & safe holiday we just came back from!! Rodney was so welcoming and nurturing, making sure we had anything we may have needed while also ensuring we were as comfortable as possible. Rodney was an angel, and I looked forward to seeing him every morning. He felt like a house dad, laughing with us as if we had all known each other for weeks. This villa is beautiful, and Rodney makes it that much more enjoyable, he is an amazing cook too! Make sure you try his breakfast and let him surprise you with his creativity. The pool, shower, cooking were all some of my favourites, and the free scooter! Location is great, just a few minutes walk to some nice cafes, my favourite closest one was the Alchemy café & yoga centre. My kids cant stop talking about Rodney, they miss him so much. I will remember this stay forever. Forever grateful.

I truly have no words to describe the level of service and attentiveness we received from Rodney. Before our stay, he answered all of our questions and offered additional services, anticipating our needs before we even voiced them and this continued during our stay up until checkout. Rodney took care of us like family. He made us absolutely delicious food, and when one of us got sick, he helped in any way he possibly could to ensure our wellbeing. We didn't just book a villa, we booked a home away from home, where we were welcomed warmly, entertained, fed, and well taken care of. I can't promise you'll have the same experience, after all it's not in the description. But hopefully, this gives you a glimpse of the beautiful heart Rodney has, and assures you that by staying here, you'll be in great hands.

The road to the villa is 600 meters walking or only by bike .(for us it was agreat experience and always Rodney helps and picks up any time)

OMG Rodney , we will miss this young old man ,we will miss putu and even muchii the dog. Rodney is a great chef making awesome breakfast. The villa itself is very nice and very comfortable. The pool is small and cold gives my boys great refresh. The greatness of this place is his owner Rodney.

The whole villa is very spacious, cozy, dry and clean. It's facilitated with lots of sweet small things like rain coat, Lego, just like the most thoughtful host Rodney. The beautiful swimming pool and lots of plants makes the villa looks like sitting in a secret rain forrest. And I also love the shower room, just like a small palace in the wild. Rodney is super sweet and an expert and generous chef. The best breakfast we had in the whole Bali trip, better than the 5 star hotel we stayed. And the fruit basket is really big, so generous! Rodney is also a problem solver, since my aunt hurt her knees and can't ride the scooter back, he find us a good scooter driver back with good price. Sorry again Rodney to raise such headache problem. The price is very worth the money. Thanks Rodney!

Our family of 5 loved our 5 night stay at Pondok. Do yourself a favour and take the time to stay in this area more the just a couple of night. There is so much to do and Rodney can help you arrange things! You feel so cared for at Pondok. So many special touches. Nothing seems too much for Rodney and his staff, and he is an amazing cook! Especially little sweet treats that the kids devoured. We loved the quite location and the local stray dog that visited us daily. One day we hope to return and stay again!

Leaving it!

This property is just beautiful; completely private, with a lush garden growing high up, enveloping the entire place in. Very comfortable beds, private pool was just great and Rodney is the most amazing host. The area the villa is in is great; close to some lovely restaurants, yoga studios, walks etc but not quite as chaotic as other areas. Penestanan is a gorgeous area, highly recommend staying there.

I don't know where to begin! Basically we had this high level of expectations for this villa based on the reviews from the others. But our expectations were all exceeded with the services provided by Ketut Rodney and his team! Hands down the villa experience at Pondok Penestanan was one of our highlights of our 12 day trip to Bali. Ketut Rodney himself is one of the highlights! It's very obvious that for him hospitality and service is a passion and he is very very passionate about it. Let me just say that his food is amazing! Totally worth every single penny! If you love food and laughter, this is where you should be! Besides that, his team handled excursions for us, our laundry and what not. Dear Rodney, you're a candle that lights up other candles. Rodney is an amazing host, he made our stay there a life experience. Nice villa with all the amenities someone needs. We were a big and difficult group since we had two kids with us, but Rodney made sure we had everything we needed! Neighborhood is quiet and relaxing but it also has a lot of restaurants where you can enjoy great meals. It is very close to the Ubud center as well. We would definitely stay there again if we visit Bali in the future.

Our new friend Rodney was so helpful, he was accommodating even when our flight was hours behind schedule and as first time Bali visitors we were very thankful for his knowledge of the area. The villa was beautiful and the best part was Rodney’s cooking, we wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy the breakfast and snacks!

Everything is perfect about this place and Rodney is the real star. Stay at this place was highlight of our bali trip and Rodney's hospitality has far exceeded our expectation. He is a great chef, the breakfast he prepared was scrumptious. The villa is tastefully decorated, the kitchen is stocked with everything you want. He is extremely thoughtful, he had toys for my 2 year old kid and he got a bowl full of strawberries when he realised that my boy loved strawberry. This place is special because of Rodney and his wonderful staff. He has definitely left a lasting impression on us.
