Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsBeautiful and interesting hotel with a lot of history and art in the he public rooms. Just beautiful. Rooms are clean and have a comfortable and typical ambiance. Breakfast and dinners were incredible. Ratna helped us so well. Location is great, 5 minutes walk from the train station and nearby the coloured villages.

United StatesWish we stay longer. The room key was attached to a large antler, which seemed odd.
Stunning antiquities and art. Gorgeous rooms. Afternoon tea and breakfast buffet were decadent. Plentiful vegan options. The spa is a must. Congenial staff made last arrangements to drive us to Bali when flights, trains and busses proved full during Ramadan rush.

United StatesI absolutely loved this hotel. The total package - completely bang for your buck. Beautiful. Historic. Centrally located - within walking distance of the train station, but the hotel staff would gladly take you. There’s an excellent restaurant on the ground floor by the pool (24-hour). Wonderful staff. I really enjoyed my stay here and wished I could’ve stayed longer.

NetherlandsThis hotel was a dream come true. I don't know where to start. From the relaxing welcome massage to the art collection, the beautiful swimming pool and the wonderful restaurant, everything was perfect. But most of all, the staff is absolutely amazing. Felt like a home away from home. We planned to stay one day but we ended up staying four and I was still a bit sad to have to leave. I would book a trip to Malang in a heartbeat for this hotel alone!

My wife and daughter Juna stayed here for a week and it could not have been better. We had a blast. The spacious room, the wonderful location, the excellent food.. we could spend a month here. But above all, the super staff (from Auntie and Nando at the reception to the gardener and the employees at the restaurant/high tea) made our time just perfect here. We had lovely talks with them and they were so (professional and) nice to us, and our daughter. We're going to miss the hotel and the staff. See you next year hopefully. Also hi from Ibu Negara ;-)

United KingdomWe changed rooms as some of the fixtures were tired and broken, and staff - steered by the formidable Anita at the front desk - were unfailingly accomodating and helpful.
Gentle accomodating charm - historical quirky building - a cross between a hotel and a museum. Menu was vast and astonishing that whatever cuisine we ordered (Indonesian, Vietnamese, Indian etc) the food was of an internationally excellent quality. - oh and the afternoon tea was great too! A breakfast box with thermos flasks of hot lemongrass tea and coffee were provided for our sunrise trip to breathtaking Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. The spa was phenomenal- traditional massages offered by skilled therapists to heal and relax. Pool was cool and deep with great loungers to soak up some rays. Malang itself (like Jogja and other Indonesian cities) is choked with traffic and walking around is difficult - the Tugu is an oasis. Phenomenal value for money.

TaiwanNothing. It was all fantastic.
We had a wonderful stay at Tugu Malang. Room was clean and comfy, the restaurant was consistently excellent across breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the staff were unfailingly helpful. On top of that the hotel is one of the most amazing places I've ever stayed. A real treasure trove of a place, better than most museums, and this only added to the comfort and enjoyment of our stay. A hotel so good it would be worth going back to Malang just to stay there again.
