While Uma Kalai is close to the centre of Ubud it is located at a calm and sereen area. We absolutely loved our stay here and would recommend it to others. We had booked the Sky room that has a gorgeous view. The staff is so lovely and does everything to accommodate you. The food is absolutely amazing! We would definitely stay again at Uma Kalai

There’s nothing we did not like!!!

We booked the Tejas Villa for 5 days and it more than exceeded our expectations!! Prior to arrival we got added to a WhatsApp group for any and all questions or wishes we may have. The welcome by Eka and Gusti was fantastic and made us feel welcome and special. After checking in Gusti showed us around and escorted us to the room; what a stunning room it was!! We stayed in a few places in our lifetime but this probably tops them all; the service really made it special. Big thanks to Eka, Gusti, Dicky, Royani en ladies from the spa. Also big thanks to Rana the driver!! What a top team. Highly recommended for couples who wish to be pampered for a few days in tranquility. The view over the padis from the sundeck is also great!! We will most certainly be back.

Because the hotel is so small it feels like the staff outnumber you and every time you walk through the hotel they come to ask questions, see where you’re going or if you need help which was quite full on. We liked having a chat with them but sometimes it felt like they were doing too much to try and please! Only very very minor as they are all so lovely and trying to give you the best service possible. I would still highly recommend a stay here.

AMAZING view of rice paddies (worth getting the rooms with the view, villas do not have a view). The pool and communal areas are all lovely and beautifully maintained. With only 6 rooms the hotel feels very private and quiet which we loved and the location about 15 min drive by scooter from central Ubud was perfect for us to escape the chaos and traffic. Food also good. The staff are amazing and so helpful and friendly (sometimes a little too desperate to please!!) special mentions to Gusti, Eke and Ade. We loved the gym which was kitted out with everything you could need. Free sunrise yoga. Our favourite place we stayed in Bali by far.

The staff were all really friendly and attentive. We were driven in by Rana who had the most infectious smile and character. Dicky, Adie and Gustie were always on hand going the extra mile and giving us so much insight into Balinese culture. The property itself was stunning too, our villa was finished to a very high standard and had everything we needed to make our stay very special. Would definitely recommend this to anyone!

We absolutely adored our stay at Uma Kalai. Its such a beautiful place to stay and the staff made you feel so special, especially Eka the concierge and Gusti and Dickie and Adi the butlers. We were so sad to leave. We especially loved our room with our heated pool and steam shower. They cleaned and prepared our room twice a day and we had delicious breakfast included. Highly recommend and will look forward to booking there again. The location is away from the hustle bustle of Ubud centre, which we liked. And the view of the rice fields was so special its hard to describe. Yoga in the morning overlooking that view was a truly magical experience as was our whole stay at the sweetest Uma Kalai.

The view was sensational. The room extremely spacious and beautifully decorated. The lounge, dinning and pool terrace exceeded expectations. The service was second to none with friendly, helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble from start to finish. Everything 😍 The staff - everyone was super friendly, attentive and accommodating. The rooms were spacious, clean and aesthetically pleasing. The gardens are impeccable with amazing attention to detail. The location was wonderful as we weren't over populated by tourists 🙏 and the jungle is amazing with beautiful scenery.

All was in line or exceeded our expectations

On my trip around the world, I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Uma Kalai and was thoroughly impressed by every aspect of my experience. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the warm and attentive staff, setting the tone for a truly remarkable stay. Our suite itself was stunning. Spacious, elegantly furnished, and impeccably clean, it felt like a luxurious home away from home. Perhaps most impressive, however, was the impeccable service provided by the staff throughout my stay. From the manager Eka to the two butlers Ade and Dicky to our driver Rana who went above and beyond to accommodate our various requests to the housekeeping team who ensured that our room was always pristine, every member of the staff was dedicated to ensuring that my stay was nothing short of perfect. We also indulged in a relaxing spa treatment at the hotel's spa. This was the reason why we decided to extend our stay twice at the Uma Kalai.

This is the BEST accommodation! It is better than we could have ever imagined (even after reading all the positive reviews online). The accommodation itself is stunning. Our place was very spacious (we booked the Earth room which had its own private jacuzzi, a living room separate from the bedroom which was great for lounging in and eating in, a steam room and an outdoor tub) and beautifully furnished. Our bed was super comfortable, the room was extremely clean, and everything inside felt new. The facilities are incredible. There is a gorgeous pool that overlooks a beautiful ride terrace. The photos do not do it justice! There are more than enough chairs and seats for everyone to lay down and relax. There is also a well furnished gym (lots of equipment that can accomodate any work out including cardio, weights, reformer pilates) and a beautiful spa that is super relaxing. There is also a beautiful dining area where you can enjoy food and drinks made by the team. The chefs were amazing - we could not get enough of the food!!! There is a great range of local and international dishes, and a lovely range of drinks on offer. Uma Kalai can also arrange lots of private tours - they’ve got something for everyone including a sunrise hike up Mount Batur, a guided trip to the rice fields, a jungle trek, a visit to a water temple or the monkey forest etc … they make it super easy for you to plan your trip. Last but definitely not least, the staff are world class. The entire team provided stellar service and made a special effort to connect with us and remember our food/drink preferences which we thought was so special. We loved hearing all about their lives and learning about the culture and life in Bali.

Uma Kalai is heaven on earth! One of the most serene and picturesque locations I've been to, overlooking huge paddy fields. The villas are extremely well-appointed and luxurious, and all facets to ensure an extremely comfortable stay have been well thought through. The spa services were very good, we treated ourselves to multiple massages as the masseuses were excellent. Additionally, the food is amazing and the staff and cooks are extremely flexible to your dietary preferences. Gluten-free and milk alternatives are easily delivered - I was pleasantly surprised! Easily the icing on the cake was the staff, simply the most pleasant, hospitable, welcoming, and knowledgeable staff I've seen in a while - THANK YOU Dicky, EKA and Gusti, and many others who worked behind the scenes to make our stay memorable. Wow! If I could rate this a 20/10 stay then I would. I don’t even know where to start! This property is the best place I have ever stayed. The vibe and staff made it feel like home the personal experience from all the staff is unbelievable. The food is outstanding, the spa treatments and massages on offer were out of this world. I just want to thank the whole staff at Uma Kalai who made nothing feel like it was too much to ask and a special thanks to Rana, Dicky and Gusti who helped us throughout our stay. The staff even made a group chat that we could communicate anything we needed during the stay. The Bhumi Villa we stayed in even had a personal steamroom and private pool which was perfect for our honeymoon. My wife and I were so sad that we had to eventually leave. Would recommend this place to anyone visiting Ubud - absolutely amazing place.
