Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The value for money. Very kind reception staff, which I haven't experienced in any of the 5* resorts in India, and beyond. Value for money, nice big bathroom and comfortable beds. Views from our room and outside area were great. Fresh cakes for breakfast and great cappuccino. 5 minutes walk from the "Dalai Lama" temple.

IndiaWell, the only point where we had a little issue was that the Hotel served mostly vegetarian foods. As we are basically non-vegetarian, it would have helped to have some non-veg in the menu. However, we were completely aware beforehand about the food and hence no complain. There could be a few more Tibetan menu in the breakfast to make it more exciting.
My experience in staying Norbu House is quite ecstatic. We booked two suites Yewang suite and Norbu suite for four adults in a family. Although we travelled in a very popular time period (Holi break), I was happy to find the property to be absolutely peaceful. We particularly liked the corner suite (most probably Norbu suite) for the outstanding view. The point of absolute excitation was to get a great view of His Holiness the Dalai Lama residence and the temple. I could carry out my meditation in the morning with the gentle fresh wind from the white mountains and watching the temple of His Holiness all the time. I also wish to mention that the temple is just connected with the Hotel through a very short road and we are grateful to Tenzinji for his kind help as soon as we approached him.

United KingdomThe only thing I didn't like was the cold shower on the first morning as I didn't realise the heater needed switching on - no big deal, certainly woke me up.
Norbu House is situated on a rare quiet road in McLeod Ganj, so provides a relief from the traffic (and incessant horn blowing of Indian drivers). It has amazing views down over the Dalai Lama's Temple and his private residence - the terrace is a fabulous place to eat breakfast in the morning sun. The breakfast buffet is simple, with a couple of Indian dishes, plus western staples like toast, eggs (cooked to order) and there are also 2 fresh backed cakes.. plus excellent cappucino with no additional charge. The MoMos with cottage cheese I ordered one eve are delicious. The hotel is family owned and very welcoming - the owners daughter was particularly warm and friendly, with better English than mine :)

AustraliaNorbu House is just beautiful. it is located very close to Dalai Lama temple and walking distance of the market, restaurant and temples of McLeod ganj. The rooms are very nice with a view over Dharamshala and across to the white peaks of the Himalayas. The staff are lovely and very kind. Looking forward to returning one day.

Hong KongTenzin and the entire family are just amazing hosts. From the moment you arrive till you leave Norbu House you will be touched by the kindness, compassion and the hospitality of everyone there. The views are amazing and you can see the Dalai Lama temple from the balcony and it is only a few minutes walk from the hotel. The breakfast is par excellence and every morning we had a sumptuous feast before setting out for the days adventures. There is everything included in the menu which you can expect at any of the 5 or 7 star hotels and the best part is the warmth with which the food is served and the amazing view of the Himalayas whilst sipping your morning coffee. I would love to go back there any given day.

United StatesEverything was great. No complaints.
The name says Norbu House, but it should be Norbu Home. At least that's how I felt during my 3 night stay. The hotel is perched on a hillside just a block or two off the main market street. My room was spacious and clean and had a balcony with an amazing view. The food in the restaurant is great and the terrace provides the same incredible view. The main thing that makes this place feel like a home is Tenzin, who seems to live behind the front desk. He's always there and is so kind and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

Every aspect of my stay was exceptional! The entire staff is committed to guests' needs and comfort. The owner is present to greet guests as they check-in and check-out and is present during days and evenings. The food is excellent and the brunch buffet, that's included, is robust and delicious. The rooms are beautiful, comfortable and the entire facility is very clean and attractive. Did I mention the view? Amazing!.The terrace for dining (and many rooms) overlooks HH The Dalai Lama's temple and residence and lower Dharamsala. There is plenty of space to meditate and enjoy. Thank you for a most magical stay. Hotel Norbu House feels like a home away from home.

HungaryNothing that I unliked.
I liked the entirety of the hotel services, be it the welcoming attitudes of the hosts or the proactivity of the staff throughout the day - very courteous, yet professional in understanding what a guest needs. The rooms were comfortable, and clean, and just loved the fact that towels were changed every day. The location of the hotel is the icing on the cake with such a 360-degree glamorous panorama of the Dauladar range, the beautiful valley of the lower Dharamsala a blissful view of His Holiness the Dalai Lama`s residence, just making our day contented and blessed. Extremely professional service.
