Not Getting room I wanted. Was accidentally given smoking room. Replacement was on a lower floor which impacted the view. Okish buffet spread. Was not not appealing as expected as per legendary Taj Hospitality standards.

The pool is rather underwhelming - no kids pool, and there are no shallow steps and only a metal ladder to go in and out (inconvenient for people with arthritis or other health issues) - it is also located in a heavy footfall area and the poolside does not feel relaxing or very welcoming. However, the poolside staff were very helpful as with all the staff at this hotel. The carpet in the room could be a little better cleaned - or done away with! - the flooring was very nice to begin with. There is nothing in the minibar. While we booked the runway view room, the sightings were rather few and far between (though each view felt very nice) - and there was surprisingly little lighting on the runway at night... this may be because of our room's location or perhaps this runway is a less busy one. The one downside in the entire experience was the rigmarole and inconvenience around the hotel's insistence for advance payment in order to confirm the reservation. Firstly, this is contrary to what we are told when booking through Booking.com. Secondly, the hotel does not seem to have a very coherent system for this - other hotel chains (e.g. Sofitel) who require advance payment always specify that it needs to be only a 1 night advance payment and a link is provided for payment, pursuant to which an immediate confirmation comes from the hotel. From Taj Santacruz, the message seemed to imply that the payment for the full stay was required. No link was provided, and we had to make dozens of calls to customer care, reservations, duty manager etc. to get it done. The payment link was a generic link from ccavenue (not Taj and neither was there any cover email with it) and felt strange to use it for payment. No confirmation came from the hotel for a week until we made many calls. Please revisit this entire system - it is inconvenient and very stressful ... and stands out as a rare negative experience from an otherwise excellent hotel with great staff and facilities.

Overall, we had an excellent work + vacation stay. We booked a luxury double room with runway view - the size, layout and amenities for the room were outstanding - apart from a large and comfortable bed, work desk, sofa etc, there is a well laid out dressing-cum-closet area and large bathroom with separate tub & shower. The breakfast buffet was well up to the standards of Taj with a very good variety of offerings and a nice long breakfast timing (the staff were very helpful even a little beyond the closing time). We also tried out the inhouse restaurant China Inc and the food was excellent. The room service was superb too. We also enjoyed the Spa. The hotel has a salon - the staff there were very helpful and friendly (and very good at their jobs). The hotel staff were very polite, friendly and helpful at all times, and did their utmost to help with all our needs, whether big or small.

The hallway smelled a little funny like somebody used to smoke in there and I had a few hairs laying around in my room also the wifi wasn't too strong. The location is a little hard to get to for uber drivers.

The room was huge and quiet, the breakfast was great.
