Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

We had been to the Taj before and knew what to expect - a fabulous hotel, wonderful service, centrally located with a marvellous pool - which they try hard to keep peaceful!

Switzerland* The hotel room temperature was set to 18°C - we immediately set it to 24°C. * The Concierge did not have great offers for a tour to the Elephanta caves. The private boat offer with a speed boat was a bit too expensive. The other option was to have a guide but buy all tickets etc. ourselves. Finally, I booked a tour online from GetYourGuide which worked well. * After we checked in at 12 noon, we were unable to reserve a table for us at the Lebanese as well as the Chinese restaurants - which was somewhat disappointing. * After our dinner, the server forced 4 scoops of ice cream on us even though we said we did not want it.
Breakfast was excellent in terms of the spread. The Indian filter coffee was underwhelming. The high tea in the afternoon was very good - however, the Sea lounge and in particular our table area was very cold due to being right below the A/c vents. Since we were celebrating my birthday, the staff gave us a surprise with a cake (because we had two rooms, they gave us 2 cakes which was a bit too much). The cake was delicious. Dinner at the Shamiana Restaurant was good (some dishes very good, others okay). The staff were very polite and helpful - so high marks for service.

United KingdomThe club lounge was limited in its offering for afternoon tea and cocktails. Other hotels I have stayed at have more variety and make a greater effort. The ambience in the lounge was dark and closed. Other club lounges at various hotels do more to brightern up the look and feel and have great views.
The general ambience was great, staff were always helpful and the pool was very good. Breakfast was amazing.

GermanyUnfortunately, we slept next to a supply room and a fan kept us awake half the night.
The ambience is a dream. The staff is very friendly. Our every wish was fulfilled. Unfortunately we were only allowed to stay one night because we were on an Ultimate World cruise. We would have liked to have stayed longer.

United Arab EmiratesI believe there's room for enhancement, particularly regarding the televisions provided in the rooms. Given the prevalence of Smart TVs in the market for quite some time, guests often find themselves more accustomed to this technology compared to traditional cable television. Smart TVs offer guests a wider range of options in terms of what they want to view.
Staying at the Luxury Grande Room City View at Taj Mahal Palace Mumbai was an unforgettable experience that exceeded all expectations. From the moment I stepped into the grand lobby, I was enveloped in the timeless charm and elegance that the Taj Mahal Palace is renowned for. The room itself was a sanctuary of luxury and comfort. The spacious layout, adorned with plush furnishings and tasteful decor, provided the perfect blend of opulence and homely warmth. The city view from the room was simply breathtaking, offering a mesmerizing panorama of Mumbai's vibrant skyline, especially enchanting during the sunset and evening hours when the city lights come alive. The attention to detail was impeccable, with every aspect of the room meticulously curated to ensure a truly indulgent stay. From the luxurious linens to the state-of-the-art amenities, every comfort was thoughtfully provided for, allowing me to relax and unwind in absolute luxury. The service at Taj Mahal Palace was exemplary, characterized by warmth, professionalism, and genuine hospitality. Whether it was the friendly greeting at check-in, the prompt assistance from the concierge, or the impeccable room service, every interaction was marked by a genuine desire to ensure my stay was nothing short of perfect. The hotel's dining options were equally impressive, with a tantalizing array of culinary delights to choose from. From sumptuous Indian delicacies to international fare crafted with finesse, each meal was a gastronomic delight that left me craving for more. Beyond the confines of my luxurious abode, the Taj Mahal Palace also offered a plethora of amenities and experiences to enrich my stay. Whether it was a rejuvenating spa treatment, a refreshing dip in the pool, or a leisurely stroll through the hotel's beautifully landscaped gardens, there was no shortage of ways to unwind and indulge in luxury.

United KingdomRestaurant service needs to be 5 star.
This was my forth visit to the hotel but this was good but also maybe the worst out of the 4, breakfast was not the best on this occasion and was unable to get booking in Golden Dragon. I think maybe the management need to keep more of an eye on things and become complacent about there high standards they should be always achieving because you are a high end hotel and that's what the guest pays for.

MalaysiaIt was the most wonderful experience, we were so well taken care of, and as part of the Club Room, you get access to hi-tea and cocktails which really added to the whole experience. Take the Taj heritage tour! It's 120 years of history told by historians, who have worked at the Taj for more than 40 years. We also had hair services at the Taj Salon, and the service was impeccable. The pool was relaxing and so beautiful. And the best part of the Taj, the staff! Unbeatable service, that made us feel like family coming home.

United KingdomWe were served food which would come with Chutney no chutney was served, the Lassi was so salty I took one sip and did not touch it again. The cost of breakfast is £24 and the choice was very limited.
We had dinner at the Sea Lounge, all I can say the food was so poor that the manager waived the bill and also we had plans to eat at another restaurant within Taj following evening having experienced the Sea Lounge we promptly cancelled the reservation and instead went to another restaurant outside the Hotel. The breakfast was equally poor. The hotel is excellent but the food was very poor.
