Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomMy ONLY gripe is there was not any hot food (i.e. bacon and sausages) available for breakfast, although they did kindly cook me some fried eggs upon request at no additional charge
Staff, Cleanliness, Comfort, Value For Money, Location - all 10/10; Marco the Bar Man with the red watch strap is particularly helpful; Could fairly be described as 'Cheap and Cheerful' but in reality it is actually so much better than that! Decor of the bathrooms from the 1970's but a great modern shower and cubicle; Nice pizza restaurant on the mezzanine floor across the car park by the train station (look for the bright green lighting); I would definitely stay here again if re-visiting Arona; Has this quirky sort of Twin Peaks (the tv show) vibe about it, which is part of its charm;

United KingdomNo milk supplied for our drinks but it was happily given when requested. As there wasnt a window in the bathroom it was surprising there wasn't an extractor fan.
Fantastic to be so close to the station. Very helpful staff. Amazing breakfast!

RomaniaIt's a pretty old hotel and I was expecting that, so it wasn't that much of an issue. The breakfast buffet could have used some fresh vegetables.
The location. You can literally see it upon exiting the train station. It's also great for lake trips (the terminal is across the street) and for the livelier city center area (10-min leisurely walk, probably 5-min if you walk fast). The rooms are large, the beds are comfortable. There was a mini-fridge in our room.

SloveniaFollowing the previous part: The not-so-good: there is no parking. If you have a car they can give you a free parking ticket for any paying parking space in the nearby roads, but keep in mind that some areas are off-limits on some days (tuesdays for the market, for example). Also, if you have a fancy car you may not be happy leaving it overnight on the road. The bad: I am fairly convinced that the hotel has not been restored or remodelled in the last 20+ year, and it shows: stained moquette in the corridors, worn parquet in the room and so on. The price (160+ Euro per night) is also perhaps a bit steep for such a structure, especially outside holiday season.
I am a client of Hotel Atlantic since 20+ years, on and off. The staff is, It never changed, and that is both good and bad. The good: the staff is, as always, courteous, kind and efficient. The location is excellent, and easy to reach both by car and by train. They accept dogs without problems and without charging ridiculous extras as in some other hotels (10 Euros total, which is, IMHO, absolutely reasonable. The average: the breakfast, which is average for a hotel.

BelgiumArona is a pleasant town on the lake, with a lot of local tourism, so the hotel industry is very limited. This hotel is outdated. The rooms in particular are very plain and unattractive, but well maintained: (the four stars of this hotel are a reminder of a past glory).
An outdated hotel but professionally managed and with a customer-oriented staff (for example: ordering a breakfast package late at night and collecting it early in the morning from the night watchman at the Reception was no problem, the attentive waitress who was preparing the breakfast room , came quickly to ask which patisserie I wanted). The reception area / lobby has very comfortable seats. Everything is neat and well polished.

United KingdomBeds were hard but that seemed in keeping we've all the places we had stayed on our trip.
Amazing location right near station and parking. Very short walk along the prom to all the bars and restaurants. Staff were lovely and helpful. This is a dated/retro hotel that has retained many original features which we found charming and a 'days gone by' vibe. Despite its age it was clean and comfortable enough for a holiday. Would def recommend for its location/price.

DenmarkThe hotel is a bit old and the walls are thin, so you can hear a lot between the rooms, like when people are watching tv at night. The interior is a bit old fashioned, but the location and the nice staff make up for it.
The staff was so nice and always smiling and helping out. The rooms were clean and big and have a great view. The location of the hotel is perfect, close to the trains station and on the Main Street with a lot of restaurants and coffee shops near by.
