Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesEverything was great.
This place is great! It is quiet and the staff are very friendly, accommodating, and professional. The location is fantastic if you want to explore the center of Florence. It was so easy to walk everywhere from the hotel. The interior is very "Florence" and it's a unique experience. Everything was clean. I also loved the espresso machine, available in the morning. It made an excellent cappuccino. The place has a very calm vibe. I plan to take some "study vacations" here in the future.

South AfricaWhilst we knew upfront that we had to share a bathroom and toilet, it's quite frustrating when the facility is occupied. On our floor, there was only one shower and toilet, between 5/6 rooms.Lots of stairs to walk up which may prove problematic for older people.
Fabulous location near to most of the main attractions.Room was a nice size and had a very comfortable bed.Staff were very friendly and helpful.Hot drinks were available free every morning, 8-11am.

AustraliaUncomfortable beds as mattresses had studs in.
Great location, easy walking distance to all sights and museums. Beautiful old building. Our room was at the back so no street noise. Shared bathroom was at the front and lots of street noise at night, so I would recommend asking for a back room.

CanadaIf you are staying a Friday or Saturday night due to the downtown location some noise may be heard. We brought earplugs which were perfectly effective at tuning out any outside noise.
Vincenzo was so welcoming and informative. He made us feel right at home in Hotel Bavaria. The location is very close to Duomo, many museums, restaurants, and the city centre. The outside of the hotel is accessible by a door with a key from the street, you then need another key to enter the hotel itself, followed by a key to enter the specific room. This made us feel very safe and secure. Our room was comfortable and clean and was significantly bigger than a typical hotel room. The sink in room was perfect for washing your face and brushing your teeth. The common space was beautiful with high ceilings and nice furniture. The washroom is shared with a few other rooms but is very clean and spacious. The free coffee machine in the morning was a great perk to start off our days exploring Florence! Overall a great stay and amazing value! Thank you Vincenzo and the hotel Bavaria staff for making our stay so memorable!

NetherlandsThe overall experience was amazing, some suggestions for improvements could be: - There could be mosquito nets in the windows. - The curtains in the shower were not enough to prevent the floor to be wet. - The hotel (reception and rooms) is on the second/third floors of the building, but there is no elevator (so it is not accessible to people with reduced mobility).
The location is PERFECT! Really: PERFECT! In the middle of the center, close to everything. The room had an incredible view to the duomo, and it was unexpected how quiet the room was since the hotel is in the middle of the old town. The room was huge, very comfortable and clean. Staff is friendly and helpful (we could leave our lugagge until the time of our train). I would definitely recommend and come back.

United KingdomLots of stairs up to 2nd floor, struggled a bit with my suitcase. Shared bathroom, but it worked OK. Make sure they explain the key system on the street door so that you are not locked out at night!
The location is very good, a little tricky to find first, but read the message from the owner. Quiet, although in the centre of Florence . Staff were nice. Lovely old building Kettle in the room with tea and coffee provided for you anytime. Lovely coffee machine free to use at breakfast time. You can walk easily to all attractions, 15min to station. I would be happy to return.

IrelandFor me, with a walking disability, the stairs were a real challenge.
The hotel is well situated for sightseeing and the city busses C1, C2 and C3 have stops close by, linking with the train station. The staff were very kind and friendly, the room was basic but very clean and comfortable, with a kettle, sink and a safe. We took a room with a shared bathroom which was also very clean. There was an option to have the room made up daily.

Canadawe'd been warned about the stairs to climb, but it was still a bit of a trial. The shared bathroom was no problem either, though some people would be turned off by that as well as having the shower stall in the bedroom. Still very much worth it as far as I'm concerned!
What could be better than staying in a palazzo built by the Medicis, with one's own rooftop patio, and Botticelli above the bed? All in the perfect neighbourhood, and with a very friendly and helpful host.

United StatesThe shared bathroom is something to get used to. There are many apartments sharing the same bathroom. Depending on which room you get, if you face the main street the noise from the street can be quite loud as there can be students and young people making lots of noise. This can continue late into the evening until past midnight. I'm sure this would get worse as the tourist season progresses since we happened to be there during spring break in the US. My suggestion is to bring earplugs just in case.
The staff are very kind and provided helpful guidance with navigating Florence. The rooms are quite spacious and mostly comfortable. The location itself is fantastic, located very near the Duomo, and easy to access.

Everything was perfect. The hotel was in a perfect location, very near to famous sightseengs. Room was super beautiful, recently renivated🩷 with comfortable beds. It was with shared bathroom but it dis not gave us any disscomfort, as it was very clean and bright. I want to mention Vincenzo separately, he was super attentive and amazing person, as in the morning coffee was usually free from 8 am, he got up and prepared it for us earlier, because our ttain was very early in thr morning. I will never forget his kindness 🩷🙏
