Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceThe only thing we missed was a little fridge in our room. Especially when traveling with a child that drinks milk this would have been convenient. There was also no kettle in the room to make hot water for baby formula. I would probably bring that myself next time.
We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Scaparone. We travelled with a little child and they supported us very well with any additional needs we had. The breakfast and the dinner were excellent and very well fitted to us vegetarians. They also had great wines to offer and a very good sommelier who helped us with some good choices. The location is easy to access and close to some bigger cities and many wine houses in the proximity. We will definitely come back.

South AfricaThe bathroom was a bit cramped in the family room - especially the shower.
Beautiful Italian authenticity.

AustraliaDue to the location we didn’t have a mobile phone signal but that was made up for by the free wifi.
Fantastic location for exploring the region, great having the pool on hot days and a quirky relaxed atmosphere, lots of visual treats everywhere. Very peaceful setting and something interesting around every corner. Nice large rooms.

ItalyThere is no aperitivo at the property. Despite being in Italy and aperitivo having been invented in Torino, the property won't offer guests any aperitivo - very odd and unfortunate. The internet at the property was a disaster and prevented me from doing important calls for work. In today's world it's absurd that a hotel doesn't invest in better internet.
Breakfast was quite good. Land around the property was beautiful.

FinlandUnfortunately this place is very expensive considering what they offer you, better value can easily be found in this area. Old charm is lost when you wake up to neighbors using the toilet. Plumming looks just as handmade like the rest of the renovations in this place. Yes- old houses can be isolated and old doesn't necessarily mean without any luxury. Bathroom was dark. Pool area (up a hills walk) could have been lovely, instead we found cheap sunchairs coupled with cheap looking tiles, views of the hilly (beautiful) landscape blocked by a concrete and bush fence. Dinner moderate to good but scarce, breakfast scarce but manageable. Saving seems to be the theme in this place which could be acceptable but for the cost: prices on food 50e for a scarce 4 course dinner and room for 2 people (albeit in a 4 person room) 240e/night. With this kind of prices one might expect something special though, not just a room packed with old things..

DenmarkWhen we arrived, we realized that the restaurant was closed. The are no restaurants in walking distance. We would not have booked the hotel, if we knew that the restaurant was closed.
Beautiful surroundings. Nice and cozy hotel.

United KingdomDirty room with spider webs in every corner and unsafe wiring. Only one socket working. No complimentary water, nor mini fridge or kettle in the room. A week prior our arrival we asked for an early check in at 1.30pm instead of 3pm explaining that we were travelling with a toddler. Despite being told that they would prioritise the cleaning of our room and that if the room was not ready our toddler could take her nap in one of their indoor restaurant rooms (which during summer are unused), on arrival we were told our room was not ready and we were sent by the pool (38 degrees!). The pool is at the top of the hill, with no shade, kids playing and screaming in the water – how could we get our daughter to nap there? At dinner we were presented with a 40 euro "surprise menu" that was absolutely not a surprise. All the courses were the usual suspects of the area (vitello tonnato, insalata russa, ravioli del plin, a veal roast). And not only the menu lacked originality, the cooking was mediocre and the worst thing is that again I felt very uncomfortable with their communication and customer service. I informed them of my pregnant status, so when they served the rare roast I looked at it with a shocked face and before I could say anything I was told that the meat reached the recommended temperature of 60 degrees while in the oven so it was safe to be consumed. I am normally not a fan of raw meat and that meat was very rare, but I would absolutely not risk toxoplasmosis. No other option was offered and I was still charged the price of the full menu.
We were at Casa Scaparone for 2 nights while on a 10-day trip in the Langhe and this was by far the most disappointing experience. The attitude and poor communication of the staff (particularly of a man) spoiled our experience. The settings and the rooms are nice, but it's completely over priced. Nor the service, nor the food, nor the facilities justify paying over €550 for 2 nights.
