Everything was wonderful. Great location in the Sassi. Wonderful breakfast and restaurant on site, food was delicious. Christina and JonCarlo were so helpful and accommodating! We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Palazzo Delgi Abati!

The bistro had a limited menu. If you want something more substantial then you need to eat elsewhere.

There seems to be a way to get close to drop bags, then park car. But we couldn’t figure this out.

Breakfast and breakfast terrace were fantastic. Staff was Knowledgeable and polite. Once on site… enjoyable walks to all spots in the area.

The views of Matera were as spectacular as shown. We stayed in a cave room with the entrance just to the side of the main patio. The rooms were fitted with the most modern amenities including ample lighting, outlets for charging devices and good HVAC system. Bathroom had a large contemporary shower panel and other fixtures. Location was also perfect as the hotel is in a quiet area but because the old city is compact it is only a 10 minute walk to the Duomo.

The step in to the room wasn’t very obvious. We tripped up and down it a few times. Toilet a little old the seat was loose and the flush wasn’t great!

Fantastic location in the Sassi The room was huge and bed one of the best we slept in on our holiday. Really appreciated the kettle in the room! Staff were extremely helpful with parking arrangements and making suggestions for things to do and restaurant recommendations.

From the moment we stepped into the "Sassi" suite at Palazzo Degli Abati, it was clear that this was going to be an unforgettable experience. The suite itself exudes a romantic charm that is perfect for couples, with its spacious layout carved directly into the ancient rocks of Matera. The ambiance is beautifully complemented by a soothing bathroom, featuring a giant walk-in shower and a luxurious bath that beckons for relaxing moments together. Waking up and stepping out of the room, we were greeted by a breathtaking view that can only be described as the very best of Matera. The panoramic vistas from our suite-terrace were uniquely spectacular, making every moment feel like a postcard come to life. The terrace of the suite provided the perfect sanctuary for both morning delights and evening aperitifs. Enjoying breakfast while soaking in the serene views was an absolute joy, and sipping drinks in the evening amidst the ancient city’s glow was equally magical. A special note must be made about the wonderful staff at Palazzo Degli Abati. Cristina and her colleagues were exceptionally accommodating and attentive to all our needs. Their dedication shone brightly when we expressed a desire to have some photos taken to remember our trip. They went above and beyond to arrange an excellent photographer, Simone, who captured our moments beautifully. In conclusion, our stay at Palazzo Degli Abati was nothing short of spectacular. The suite, the views, the service, and the overall ambiance were all perfect. This is a must-visit place that offers a piece of heaven in Matera, ideal for those looking to indulge in a slice of romance and tranquility.

Great location. Spacious cave room. Very good breakfast & wonderful terrace for drinks with a view of Sassi. Excellent restaurants close by. The reception staff always went out of their way to assist & give advice. They sorted restaurants, tours & daily activities. We had 3 memorable days here.

It was a bit tricky to get to the property but I guess this would be the same for all hotels in Matera since it is not accessible by car.

The terrace is exceptional. The room was great, comfortable bed, great shower and very clean!

The staff was outstanding! And cannot say enough about staying in the cave room that was formerly a bakery! Our floor was an archaeological ruin made on glass! Too cool, bathrobes and cave shower were clutch too! Would love to visit them again. Breakfast was killer too!

Incredible city and just an unforgettable hotel in a cave! Our room was very cozy, beautiful and spacious. We really enjoyed our stay in your hotel. Also want to mention the reception, we were told all the intricacies of staying in the city and the best route to walk. Delicious breakfasts with a view of the city 😍. Best recommendations
