A total hidden gem in the most vibrant neighborhood. I felt very safe and cared for. The staff is there to help. They have an awesome happy hour spread every day and a beautiful breakfast. This is where I will stay next time in Rome. Feels like home.

In consultation with my fellow family travellers we agreed that there was nothing we could possibly complain about, but we would happily come back for another stay, and recommend it to friends and family!

The location was within comfortable walking distance from the main attractions. Tram and bus services were available just round the corner by the river. The neighbourhood was lively, vibrant and full of character with a warren full of cobbled streets, small piazzas, churches and little shops. There were plenty of restaurants to choose from, including take out foods. The Santa Maria Hotel has a family feel about it, with an array of rooms arranged around open seating areas and colourful terraces. Breakfast offered a good variety of choices, with friendly service from the staff and you can eat either indoors or in the garden outside. Rooms were very clean and spacious with very comfortable beds. I had the company from my son and grand-daughter and we stayed in the Junior suite. It offered enough space for 3 people and opened out onto a roof terrace, which was a great advantage when you want a bit of private space, as teenagers do! The whole property is really well maintained and very pleasant with all the colourful plants and trees. All the staff deserve much praise, they were friendly, very approachable and keen to deliver a professional service. The Santa Maria Hotel is a little gem of a place in the heart of Rome.

The pillows were my only complaint but that’s because we are used to softer pillows and they were firm. Other than that the bed was very comfortable and we had a good nights sleep.

We had two early morning tours so only took advantage of one breakfast which was wonderful.

The area is not served by Metro, the easiest public transport to the historic center is the Trum Nr 8.

I had the assumption that the Italians don't care about breakfast, BUT the breakfas at Santa Maria was soooo delicious, the stuff at the breakfast room were so welcoming and professional, they even personalised my daughter's hot chocolate, tables with nice and clean clothes, nice cakes, biscuit, fruits, Iogurtes, fresch juice, etc..all you need for your breakfast.... excelent!... The reception is small but the personnel were soooo helpful with giving us the information we needed, organizing the taxi to the Airport, etc.

rooms are small and dark. the junior suite was not great with our young adult daughter. bedding is too firm. no window in the bathroom and very small ones in rooms.

Well kept, nice staff, walking distance to main touristic sites. The common grounds are very nice where you can eat breakfast or enjoy drinks. the happy hour food was great. the dark quiet rooms are conducive to sleep.

Although the room was clean and charming, the bed could have been a bit more comfortable. It would have also been helpful to have two glasses (there was only 1) and a wine opener in the room.

The location of this hotel in Trastevere was perfect. The grounds with the orange and lemon trees were beyond charming. The staff were very attentive and helpful.

There wasn't anything we didn't like although driving through the streets as a foreigner is a little stressful. You get used to it hen you realize pedestrians and motorists share the road

The location is perfect for food and atmosphere. The streets are hopping, but the hotel is quiet.

We had a great experience in the hotel. The location is great - we didnt use public transportarion, just walked to all the main attractions. Additionally, the hotel staff were all so nice and helpful! We had some complicated aituation before the flight, and they understood us and helped us solved it.
