Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Austriathe hotel has a lot off potential, it requires a big investment to update its infrastructure and premises. for the price paid this should have already been done, long ago.
you enter into a time capsule, you are literally in 1960 and the termal water is very nice

United KingdomI'd break this down in two parts, as the one is more of a fault of the hotel than the other: 1. The hotel, and actually the entire town of Abano Terme, essentially caters largely to tourists aged 70+. That's as such not a criticism, but something others should be very aware of, as the hotel caters to the preferences of this age group and you might quickly find yourself out of place if you're not part of this group. 2. However, that doesn't excuse the lack of standards in some areas. Just because your clientele is older doesn't mean the facilities and standards need to date back to the time when they might have been with you the first time. Things are generally clean, but old. This relates to the décor (I guess a matter of taste), but also to things like air conditioning (which sounds like a jet engine), Spa facilities, garden equipment etc. Something that should be improved, no matter the age group you're targeting, is the breakfast: both choice and quality is poor. How is it possible that, in Italy of all places, the only coffee available is the mediocre brew from a customer operated machine?? Similarly, you must be able to provide something better than the very basic cheese and charcuterie choices on offer.
The pool temperature was very nice. The food in the bar by the pool was good as well. Biggest plus of the hotel was the staff, who were generally very helpful and friendly.

PolandI must say right away that the hotel does not deserve 4 stars at all (as well as due to its price). Maybe once many, many years ago, but not now. My experience of staying was negative. I'll start with the main thing: cockroaches were running around my room (and HUGE COCKROACHES!). I have never met this in any hotel with fewer stars. I didn't expect to meet this in a 4-star hotel at all. The next morning, I asked to leave a day earlier than I paid for, and to return the money for that one day (it would be nice to make a refund for a spoiled night, but I barely managed to return it for an unused day). I spent a lot of time trying to persuade you to return my money due to poor service and non-compliance with standards. As a result, I was refunded only for 1 day, not taking into account the Booking commission (although what do I have to do with it? This is not my problem), but I did not argue even more, because my time is more valuable, and the rest remains on the conscience of the hotel. I want to appeal to the owners of the hotel: I pay money for my comfort and my safety, so I choose and am ready to pay for the appropriate service, and not just an "iron bed in a hostel". The problem is not so much in cockroaches (which later, as it turned out, are a common thing in this hotel), but in the unwillingness to correct the situation. Otherwise, in general terms. The room in the photo looked much bigger. There is no shower partition in the bathroom, as a result of which the entire bathroom floor is flooded with water. Also, there is no shower as such, there is a hole in the floor and you need to lay out the "curtains" every time. The staff is pleasant and responsive, but right up to the moment when you ask to make a refund for poor service, they tried for a long time to shift responsibility to anything and prove to me that a refund is impossible. The WiFi worked from time to time.
Good thermal springs in the hotel, lots of pools, hot water. A hotel with a history. Good location, you can walk
