Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesSince the house does not have an elevator, guests must climb up steep stairs up and down. We were able to handle it, but it could have been an issue for people with mobility issues or for families with very small children.
The staff was on site when we arrived and helped us to carry our luggage upstairs. We enjoyed sitting at the roof top terrace. The location was excellent, not too far from the train station, laundry mat, convenience stores and restaurants.

CanadaJust a reminder that since it is on the main road where shopping and major restaurants are, there will be noise sometimes in to the late evening and early morning. We had no issues with that but some may.
Room was very clean. The shared terrace was a great break from the crowds to have a bottle of wine and eat. Close walk Tom or only main shopping area, but to the harbour, church and train station. Dominico, our host was amazing and always available to help us out if we had questions. Thanks so much.

United KingdomRiomaggiore is built on a very steep hill and all the buildings are very tall. To get to our room we had to negotiate 60 very steep steps…..there is no lft!
Location was good in the Main Street. The room was spotlessly clean with a fridge and a kettle for tea making facilities, a coffee machine was in the corridor nearby. Bathroom, had toiletries supplied and clean towels. Also our sheets were changed after 3 nights which we didn’t expect. There was a shared balcony which overlooked the main street on which we had our breakfast in the sun. As we were delayed and missed the reception time, we were given very detailed instructions by our host on how to find our room and get in.

CanadaThe stairs...haha...but nothing can be done abkut that..a good workout for the leggs....but we manged well and he helped carry up our luggage...if you can't do stairs, check out your accommodations, as they all have stairs, it's just the nature of Riomaggore.
Nice room centralized in town. A lovely rooftop patio to have some wine.

United StatesWe made the mistake of leaving the windows open all night, and the city crews clean it the trash/ bottles of wine at around 0700h in the morning. If you want to sleep in, suggest you close the windows to reduce the commotion at that hour. This location is atop a few flights of stairs, not uncommon to the city.
Excellent location on Via Colombo, right atop the heart of Riomaggiore. Giovanni was very nice, helpful, and responsive. Buy a bottle (or 2... or 3) and hang out on the terrace for a wonderful evening!

AustraliaStairs! But everywhere in Riomaggiore has stairs so it’s ok.
5 stars service, including check in service with Giovanni, and everyday room service. Little biscuits for breakfast, fresh water filled up and put in the fridge, fresh towel everyday. Attention to details. Hotel private terrace was a big surprise to us. Super nice! Very clean, quiet, spacious room

AustraliaThe stairs! But it was expected and well documented that there would be stairs so absolutely no fault of the property!
The property is in a great location right in the centre of town. Domenico and his team were very helpful and had lots of handy hints and tips for getting around cinque Terre and making the most of your time there.

ArgentinaIt is a cozy place, very clean, and near to everywhere. The room was neat, and also it was renewed. An amazing shower after the beach, air conditioning to calm the heat, and an amazing terrace to have dinner with a bottle of wine (which we kept in a fridge in the room and we opened it with a corkscrew that was already in the room). The train station was 5 minutes away from the hotel. And Domenico was an amazing host. Nothing bad to say about this place!! We loved it!! As everything in cinque terre, take into account that you will have to climb stairs (this time to get to your room/terrace)

Giovanni was an exceptional host from the get-go. He helped carry up our heavy luggage up four flights of stairs, and was very friendly and knowledgeable about the best places to go in Cinque Terre! The room was generally clean and comfortable, and they left us treats every morning :) The second best part is the rooftop area to chill/drink/eat dinner as you can escape the crowds below, and hang out in peace! Would definitely recommend this place!
