“So beautiful and serene. Lovely one-night stay. Cute rooms (Japanese / Monk style); quiet place with a reasonable number of guests. Peaceful setting, well maintain. Enjoyed the hot baths. Vegetarian meals (very enjoyable). The Monk spoke a really good English. The morning religious service was a really good experience This was by far my favourite area of my trip around Japan. The area is so calm and relaxed and the temples beatiful.”
“It would be impossible, as a tourist, to have a true monastery experience in an overnight stay, but the beautiful monastery and lovely monks gave us an inkling of what being a monk means. Sleeping and eating on the floor is less comfortable but essential for that experience. Beautiful monastery within walking distance of temples and Okunoin cemetery. Well worth staying overnight to appreciate Koyasan more fully.”
“Room was quite the what I expected. It was spacious and a traditional Japanese room. Washrooms were located bit far from the room and they were public baths. Toilets were located separately which were near to my room. Wash basins for face wash were separately located as well. I attended the morning ceremony. Being a Buddhist myself(Theravada sect) it was different from what I have seen and practiced from my childhood. But was all in for a new experience which was what i got there. Mind that all the shops close around or before 05.30 pm so you have to secure your dinner before that.”
“It’s a beautiful building and a fantastic experience. I’d recommend it to anyone. As a town, Koyasan is simply stunning. We were there in spring so everything was flowering. Autumn would be a good choice also for the scenery.”
“Beautifully decorated house, loved the linen sheets and areas to relax in. I liked the homemade breakfast too. The host was very welcoming and helpful.”
“Stunning temple in Koyasan. The monks were so welcoming, the shojin ryori meals were delicious and the services were solemn and beautiful. Our stay was peaceful and atmospheric- it was such a special experience.”
“Lovely comfortable room. Nice staff who really tried to help me with the Kohechi route, and found an English speaker on the phone to help me.
Nice shower and good WiFi, with little lounge area. Thank you”
