“I had a perfect stay at Wakaba. The tatami room was spotless, very confortable and warm (I stayed during March) and the baths were amazing as well. the ryokan has its own restaurants and, although the menu is in japanese ( i believe they are working on a translation ) it was easy to understand with a bit of help from google and from the staff, which, by the way, were really friendly and attentive.
Keita-san, who owns the ryokan speaks perfect english and we had a nice chat, he made sure I had an immaculate staying at Wakaba.
I can't recommend wakaba ryokan enough. Sakata itself its a small but charming town, make sure you visit the tea house Somaro and Honma Museum.
Cheers! 10☆”
“Traditional Tatami room, warm and comfortable.Overlooking historic rice stores and port, minutes walk away from restaurants, shops, supermarkets, fish markets.”
“Met the owner who was really friendly and spoke English well. He helped us with providing restaurant recommendations and calling in advance to confirm the restaurant was open before we visited. Also had a really nice dinner in the ryokan with a series of different seafood and meat dishes. Overall a great stay!”
