Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeThe staff weren't very friendly nor accommodating, it felt as thought they were trying to ignore me even though I was standing right there at the counter... the only one who actually did their job properly was probably the senior staff. Not very welcoming. They also didn't let me put my belongings there for me to pick up in the evening which was rather upsetting.
It was really near kumamoto castle and rather accessible by bus from the bus terminal. The room was comfortable though the bed was on the hard side.

MalaysiaThe room is a bit small and the bed is too small for 2 persons to sleep comfortably though is clean. Space is too tight if with 3-4 luggages, to move around.
We stayed 3 nights here. The location is perfect to walk to Kumamoto castle which is about 10-15 minutes at leisure. We booked a castle view room which can see the castle though not fully at 8th floor. Within 5-10 minutes walk to the back of the hotel has many restaurants and shopping arcade to stroll. From here we travelled to Mount Aso, Takachiho gorge within 1.0-1.5 hours drive. The car park is a multi level stacking system but is very efficient and fast each time we park and retrieve the car. Parking charge per night is 900 yen, however is only for small cars. Hotel front desk staffs are very friendly and helpful. some able to speak reasonably good english. We were recommended a restaurant just 2-3 minutes walk turning right and another right at the first lane from the hotel because we wanted to try the Sashimi Horse meat and BBQ meal which is excellent. Check in and check out is fast and efficient. If you do not wish housekeeping for the first night, they give 2 tokens where you can get redeem drinks at the Kiosk. There is a lounge access at level 10 where you can get free cofee/tea or soft drinks and overlooking the Kumamoto castle view which is excellent at night. Highly recommend this hotel which is value for money.

United KingdomWhy does breakfast finish at 9am? They literally kick you out the room at 9:01… so early! Unnecessary refills of amenities every day, even when we opted for reduced eco cleaning option. Who needs 2 new plastic hairbrushes, 2 new pairs of disposable slippers and 2 new toothbrushes every day of their trip? It’s an unnecessary amount of plastic and so wasteful - it makes a bit of a mockery of the idea of it being “eco” cleaning, and makes it look more like an attempt to save on maid’s wages as they just don’t have to tidy & make the bed. The main ceiling light also didn’t work in our room for the duration of our stay. Pillows can be quite uncomfortable - stuffed with weird bits of cut up plastic straws, and duvet cover was made of a synthetic plastic material than felt hot and not like cotton. We were told by a male receptionist on arrival that we couldn’t check in until 3pm and so, after a long journey, had to unpack our bags in the lobby and get changed in the communal toilets. When we tried to leave our bags at reception, a different receptionist said we could go to our room after all. It would have been nice if we could have done this straight away, but I got the impression that the first guy was a stickler for the rules!
Free soft drinks in the afternoon - massive variety. Good breakfast selection & delicious French toast. Option to get one free vending machine credit per person for each night of your stay if you opt for eco cleaning option - a great idea. Location is right next to the castle, with lovely views.

United KingdomSo I was given a smoking room. I did not request one but it didn't bother me too much as I do smoke , just not inside the room because I hate the smell it leaves. And there was a lingering smell present. It would have been nice to be informed upon check in that the room was a smoking room at least as it could have been a make it or break it thing for some.
Good value for money and location, right in front of Kumamoto castle. Check in staff was very thorough with the facilities available and aspects of my reservation (chose the no-cleaning option, but would still have fresh towels in the morning and could ask housekeeping to empty my bin). Room was fine, standard business hotel room size for Japan, with all the typical amenities but could get more from the amenity bar in the lobby. The highlight of this hotel is the top floor common area which offers a great view to Kumamoto Send free soft and hot drinks after 3pm.

FranceThe hotel staff are very welcoming and ready to respond very quickly to any problems. Everything was perfect in terms of in-room facilities. The location of the hotel was very convenient, only 2 minutes walk from a very busy street. Kumamoto castle is also right next door, very convenient for visiting. There are also many shops and restaurants nearby.
