Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaAs a Westerner getting used to futon is only my downside. But you can add some layers to give you that support you’re looking for.
The staff went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and welcome. I felt like I was a part of a family as I was travelling on my own. The hospitality and their general nature it’s just so lovable.

AustraliaNothing to say.
Great location, just a short work to the bus terminal and into town! The rooms are spacious, warm and clean. Bathrooms are small but really, all you need. I stayed with Bergtour Marukita for 6 night and would definitely go back and recommend. The ladies at reception are absolute legends, they are so helpful and even if english isn't their first language, they go out of their way to help. I didn't have their breakfast so can't comment on it. Lockers and dry room are everything you ask for.

AustraliaWe had some rainy days in Hakuba but nothing anyone can do about that!
Japanese breakfast was included and was fantastic, every morning was something different, extra attentive staff, always happy to help. We opted for a dinner at the hotel and it was amazing! Good value too, compared to other eateries. The onsen is a wonderful way to relax after a day of skiing. Excellent lockers and drying room downstairs. We made a great choice staying here.

United KingdomMaybe more options for shuttles to the gondola and back would make it even better. The bed was very dusty, comfy but dusty. I got an allergic reaction. The lighting was a bit poor. Packing at night was a challenge.

SingaporeIt’s beyond expectations! The hotel is amazingly spotless clean. The hotel staff are super duper friendly, polite and helpful. They might not speak fluent English, but they take the efforts to use Google translate to ensure effective communication. As it is the honeymoon trip, at the last day of our stay, they gave us surprise gifts to make our honeymoon memorable. The public hot bath on the 5th floor comes with indoor and outdoor alkaline water bath. It’s really cool experience to try the outdoor hot bath in winter. It is easy to get a parking slot outside the hotel too. During winter time, there were fireworks on every Saturday nearby. The room we were staying are able to view the firework. The breakfast is served with homemade Japanese breakfast and western breakfast buffet. The choices isn’t that much for buffet, but it’s already full by eating the Japanese style served food. The 6 types of homemade jam is tasty though. They also provide the Happo-One ski pass at discounted price. Steps to purchase is well written in the instruction sheet (English version available). Overall experience was really impressive. Will come back again.

Bergtour Marukita is well situated, only a couple minutes walk from Happo bus station, and within walking distance of Happo One ski lifts - the hotel also offers a free shuttle. The hotel is pristinely presented, homely, and the staff are extremely hospitable and lovely. We had breakfast included which consisted of a variety of delicious dishes every day. There is ski storage and drying rooms in the basement that were essential for skiing. The traditional Japanese room we stayed in was very warm and comfortable. The included Onsen in an absolute pleasure and must visit. Could not recommend staying here enough.

Hong KongOur stay here was one of the highlights of the trip. First, the location’s super convenient, really close to the main bus terminal where shuttle buses go to and from different ski resorts. There are also shops and restaurant options nearby that are walking distance. Lockers/dry room for snow gear easily accessible after a full day of skiing. The onsen was a great way to relax, especially enjoyed the outdoor bath. Breakfast and dinner were soo good with lots of seasonal and local produce (we recommend trying their homemade jams and pastries☺️) Lastly, the staff were all super friendly and helpful, always going above and beyond to accommodate us throughout our stay and even after we left – we accidentally left behind some important items at the hotel and they were kind enough to help us locate and get it back to us. We absolutely loved it and would definitely stay here again!!
