How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The carpet was unclean. A garbage was left in sanitary bag at toilet. There is a need for improvement on hygiene level of room service.

The staff‘s English was beyond bad, not one sentence was possible. Very tiny and outdated bathroom (even for Japanese standards). Due to availability we booked a smoking-room and at arrival we asked if we could get a non-smoking one, it was possible with no issue but only with a downgrade in room for which we didnt get a refund, which is a pity.
Nicely soundproofed, bed was comfy and all amenities provided (like in every Mystays Hotel).

sound insulation not great. gap between the bath and wall, so water accumulated there, otherwise very good for the price. We always have a good time at my stays.
We really enjoyed how close it was to the station, there are many shops and convenience close by too. We did karaoke near by and it was so much fun! Our best experience with staff too in Japan as we left a bag on a train in Kumamoto and the staff at my stays helped us get it back by translating what it looked like and the time of the train arriving etc. Thank you so much!

The only bad thing was the wifi. It was SO BAD on the 10th floor. We couldn't even do simple google searches or check google map. We stayed at a mystays hotel before and there were no issues with the internet. we were on the 6th floor then, but maybe if you end up on the higher floors the internet becomes bad? The view was a little sad as we could only see into another tall building, but to be honest it wasn't an issue for us because we didn't stay here for the view..
The room was clean and nice! The staff was very friendly and helped us receive our luggage when we got it shipped to the hotel. We were even able to store our luggage after check out! The bed is a bit narrow, but my friend and I are both 170+ cm tall but we didn't have any issues sleeping there together. The mystays way is very comfortable for us as we don't need daily cleaning but it is nice to be able to get new towels and essentials from the front desk whenever if we needed it. Would definitely stay again if they manage to fix the wifi issues to ensure WIFI is working well even on higher floors.

The corridor of smoking floors should smell less, but for everything else, no complaints.

The location is very convenient, lots of bus stop nearby, and the breakfast is delicious, with all of the friendly and very kind staff...they accommodate us with warm genuine smile on their faces...amazing place to stay..I will definitely come again...

Nothing, it was perfect for a simple couple traveller and we enjoyed it. Thank You My Stays Hotel
This is the second time I stay at this hotel. Of course I like it because the price is easy so I can stay longer to enjoy a holiday in the Oita area. Not only that, but basic needs facilities have also been met as well as easy access to various modes of transportation such as stations, bus stops and restaurants. The staff service is also very friendly, adding to the positive impression of this hotel. and maybe I will still choose this hotel when I visit Oita again, or the hotel branches spread across other areas of Japan to enjoy my next holiday.

Staff immediately spoke to me in English despite me initiating with native Japanese. Very obviously judging by my looks without considering the fact that I was born and raised in Japan. Room was also a mess. The area under the bed clearly hadn’t been cleaned in weeks and the room reeked of must. Very clearly the people in charge of cleaning are not doing a good job to maintain the rooms. Also there were no amenities provided for children, which is very common at other hotels.
Location was nice.
