Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ThailandI often stay at Dormy inn, and have been to many branches around Japan for like 10+ years. Normally things would be perfect that I give 10 points. The reasons for 8 points this time are: 1. A bit small onsen is not a big problem as I am familiar. But the ventilation for this branch is not good, making me feel stuffy and not comfortable, compared to other branches. And the air-con didn't seem to work. 2. I can see that room has been cleaned well, as always for Dormy inn. But probably the room starts to get a bit old and carpet feels a bit dusty (but still clean imo, just not as good as other branches) I personally like wooden floor as it is always cleaner than carpet, no matter how well it is cleaned, and I know other other guests may wear shoes in the room.
The room is quite clean as always for Dormy chain. The staff is very nice and helpful. Location is good, near subway station, and with several restaurants nearby. Supermarket is just across the road, open till 11pm, and also convenient stores nearby.

United StatesThe hotel room was small but standard for a Japanese hotel. We were in a tatami mat room that had two single beds which we pushed together to make one large bed. It made it much more larger and comfortable than a full size bed. But there was a lot of dust under the bed that was moved.
The onsen, Japanese-style buffet breakfast and late night complementary ramen was the best part of staying at this hotel. It’s about a 10-15 minute walk to the Osaka Castle and Park. There is a train station within walking distance but we never used it. We just took a taxi to the Shin-Osaka station and walked around that area which had lots of department stores. We also took taxi to Dotombori area to sample the food and had a massage.

United StatesThe pillows are a bit hard, but the front desk had no issue giving us an extra set of softer pillows the second we asked.
Dormy Inn is a consistently excellent chain, and the Osaka branch is particularly wonderful. Friendly and helpful staff, an excellent bathhouse, and an unbeatable location made our stay fantastic.

United StatesThe beds were unusually hard. I can't speak about the hot springs, as I have a tattoo and that is explicitly not allowed. I wish private bookings were available.
I appreciate that free laundry was available. The breakfast was really tasty. The staff was also very helpful. It's also close to Osaka Castle and some metro stations, but no JR stations.

Hong KongOnly one pillow for each guest and the pillow is too flat that not comfortable.
We arrived before the check in time, hence we kept our luggage with Concierge, when we returned to hotel at night, our luggage had been taken to our room. The hotel has very nice onsen (with free ice cream) and served free noodle at night. The hotel is clean and within 3 minutes walking distance from Exit 4 of Tanimachiyonchome Station, there are around 50 steps to get out of the Station, as we have just 2 small luggage that this did not bother us at all. Tanimachiyonchome Station is 4 stops away from Tennoji Station and its only 5-8 minutes walk from the Hotel to Osaka Castle.

Czech RepublicVery bad condensation. Every day we wiped twice - morning and night and the towels got very wet. We smelt bleach in the corridor, so the hotel knows the condensation and mold situation.
The room was bigger than the other hotels, good for 2 people with big suitcases. The room is well-designed, enough space for 2 people to place stuff around the sink.

AustraliaThe room wasn't completely clean, there was some sticky residue that looked like food from the last guests. The location was also quite noisy as it's right next door to a fire station.
The amenities and extra services provided were good. Hot spring facilities were also nice.

GermanyOriginally ordered double bed (1x120cm bed) room was way too small for the requested 2 adults. Paid a little extra to upgrade to twin (2 bed) bed room.
Breakfast was great mix of Japanese and Western Style. Free evening soup and drinks were really appreciated by the entire family. Hot Bath was nice as it had inside and outside bath.

AustraliaThe pillows were very firm and small and the bed also quite firm.
We loved the clear bath etiquette video and the big lovely public bath on the top floor. The room wasn't pokey, and there was room for two large suitcases and fresh air from the window including air-conditioning. The private shower was also great. Free washing machines. Not far from the station and a nice peaceful neighbourhood close to Osaka castle with restaurants walking distance. The staff were friendly and helpful.
