Just a heads up for my fellow gaijin. Brush up on your Japanese bath house etiquette before you stay. It was great but I made a few mistakes that made me feel a little bit silly.

Talk about Ski in Ski out!! I didn't actually realise when I booked, that this is completely on mountain accommodation. Absolutely outstanding. Room was clean and comfortable, staff were absolutely great. Very helpful and accommodating. Breakfast in the mornings had a great selection to fuel up for the slopes and I thought other meals were tasty and great value for money. Catch the Ropeway and get picked up in a snowmobile.. how many places can you stay that do that!!

We booked a room with mountain view, but instead got a windowless room upon arrival. I suspect both the hotel and booking.com are responsible for this mistake.

Nice location on the mountain right next to a lift, rental shop right onsite, clean and cozy, friendly staff.

It's an old lodge, so the facilities such as the shared bathrooms were small and cold. These negatives however are far outweighed by all the positives.

Hands down best breakfast buffet I've had at a hotel stay. The food was fresh and gourmet with plenty of varieties. The location of the lodge was right on the ski slopes, so it was a true ski in ski out experience. The staff here work around the clock to make the stay comfortable for their guests. They even picked us up on a ski cat on the first day after getting off the gondola to get there.

The dull metal stairs, squeeky wood flooring as well as the no private bathroom inside the room. Not recommended for senior who goes to the bathroom frequently at night time.

A classy lodge cabin with with billard tablre, comic books and unlimite drink, and a nice fire place to relax. Situated on top of a mountain. We had Good company with a friendly staff, gueat and owner, nice dinner and breakfast meal Peacefull place and a good hiking area during Autumn.

It’s beautifully situated. Up in the mountains with gentle slopes and lovely hiking trails. Property is cozy and clean and the staff were very nice, responsive and helpful.

No personal toilet/shower, not that much to do around the area when I was there except for hiking, but if there’s snow, this place should be amazing

Cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel need not also be rustic. Good selection of food, but there is room for improvement in the overall quality of the food.

Nice and rustic cabin type hotel experience up on the mountain side. Ski in and ski out facilities. Hot chocolate to die for. Fireplaces.

Unfortunately their phone number didnt work so we had to walk in the freezing cold with all our bags in the snow from the gondola station. Beds were very firm and walls were very thin so make sure you bring ear plugs if you want to sleep. Ladies shower room was extremely small and very busy.

Very cool Inn located on Zao mid mountain! Food was delicious. Enjoyed playing pool and using the massage chair!
