Requested to make a rservation for Japanese dinner, but the front informed me that they can not accept any more as fully booked already which I did not know beforehand about the necessity to make a reservation earlier. My contacted time was around 5 P.M. after check-in. Instead, we had a western dinner and it was excellent. As your seat capacity is limited, the front staff should inform the guest about when they check-in.

Food was good but restaurant location was too far away, especially for Japanese food.

Everything needs to be booked long in advance and there is limited availability. We travelled from Tokyo and could’t have dinner at the hotel neither a treatment at the spa.

Lack of cheaper meal options in area. Average meal cost was $200 per head in hotel and other nearby restaurants, but found an amazing back street restaurant which a real traditional treat.

Loved the hotel, location and amenities. Really relaxing stay. Wonderful breakfastand great attentive staff. Loved the hot springs.

the japanise breakfast is not suitable to everyone ( it isn't a buffet ), the westren breakfast is o.k not more ( it isn't a buffet)

It was very difficult to communicate with the people at the restaurant. Very poor english. The food was bad and expensive. Not worth the money.

The property is marvelous. We stayed at the plum Jr. suite. Beautiful room, yukata and amenities. The Onsen facilities are very good too.

Lovely old hotel, great atmosphere. The downstairs bar was great. Staff were very helpful. They offer a shuttle to get you up the steep hill to the station. Very nice garden.

Very nice, comfortable room. Beautiful gardens. Food was excellent. Indoor pool was a little cool, but ok for exercise. Onsen was more modern & nice outlook over the hills.

Stunning hotel, perfect combination of old style Japan with all the mod cons. We stayed in the Forest Wing and had beautifully designed bedrooms that felt like a small apartment. Onsen was spectacular, views across the mountains. Perfect place to stay and re charge after travelling round Japan.

It took over an hour for us to check in. Very very slow and English was problematic which was unexpected from this level of accommodation.

The Mountain View rooms are lovely. The onsen is exceptional and the location is very central.

Not much...the service in the dining room "Cascade"was slow and the server (S. Shamura)was very surly.

We loved the decor. The wood work is exquisite. The grounds are beautiful. The shuttle service was great and the driver and bellman very helpful. The onsen experience was relaxing and good. Breakfast was good. The room was spacious and all amenities that we required were present. We loved the place.

The hotel is quite far from the lake, and its not easy to catch a taxi, so be prepared to use the trains and buses which could be overcrowded during high season Onsen is on the 6 th floor but the windows are not transparent so no view and it’s quite small for the size of the hotel

Everything was just simply amazing, best hotel experience, highly recommended to ANYONE. Onsen on the top floor was fantastic, must try the Japanese traditional breakfast in the morning!!!
