we didnt expect there to be as many insects as there were, but that was unsurprising considering the location among nature

the host was friendly and great, and was willing to offer help when we asked for recommendations. the property was well maintained given the location, and it was spacious and clean. the owner also roasts his own coffee beans for guests to use and they are amazing. they have a newly built cafe next to the property that i hope people will visit!

Cosy. Plenty of room that can accommodate 6 easily. Has everything you need. Very self contained. Love the natural wood fire stove for the winter trip. Quiet surroundings. Perfect after exploring & hiking the area.

We spent great moments here. Inside the house, it is pretty warm. There are coffee beans and everything ready for us to make a hand drip coffee. I can’t wait to make one cup. The coffee taste so good and smooth, maybe this is selected beans. I connected the Bluetooth speaker and playing Mayumi Itsuwa’s songs. Music harmonized with the lovely chalet interior, the atmosphere is so relaxing and immersive. Kihara-san is very nice. The Shinyu Onsen he recommended is gorgeous. The hot spring water is wonderful. It is milky-white, so natural and so great. I guess it come from a sulphur spring. In the daytime, we hiked around Onamiike and Ebino Plateau. The crater lake is amazing and there are great views along the trails. At night, we do BBQ in front of the chalet. We rent a Charcoal Konro Grill set, it is really convenient. We bought some Japanese Wagyu beef for yakiniku from supermarket near Kirishima. The beef is yummy, really delicious.

Great view of mountains from the property. Cabin is full of character, with interesting alpine decor and is very clean. Host is easygoing and very helpful with recommendations. Highly recommend this as a base to explore Kirishima.

It would be perfect if there are more shelves in the bathroom. And I can't search for the free wifi provided but it's not a serious problem. We arrived the cottage after 6pm (without the sunlight which was very dark at road) and we accidentally drove into the wrong drive way. It would be great if there is a hotel name sign with light put along the road.

It is great there is music playing when I got into the cottage. Free bread is prepared which is great too.

There were some power issues (likely), when too many lights were turned on, it resulted in some of the lights to flicker. There were no big towels for drying up (small ones are available) but that wasn't a big issue for us (as there's plenty of towels). Being located in the middle of "nowhere" does mean significant travel times from other areas but good for the ones you want to go to (Kirishiwa Kinkowan National Park).

This place feels just like it looks. Outside in the middle of the great outdoors with beautiful scenery around you and the vibe just fits in. The host was there to greet us, along with his son who came back and was most welcoming and we could chit chat. Side note: He's into classic stuff and have things in the property that's worth a look and talk about. There's areas around which you can sit out and chill and a BBQ that you can rent if you choose to cook. It's a far cry from living in a city but it has the necessary amenities.

Great location, which is close to many tourist spots at Kirishima and Day-spa Onsen (all are just a few minutes driving). Fabulous forest view and big grassland encompassing two delicately built houses which are fully equipped with everything you needed (even with the washing and clothes drying machines). The beds are comfy and the ambience is tranquil. Worth to mention is that there is no mosquito inside the houses, which is a major concern to me before the trip. We come as a family (4 adults and 3 kids), and stayed for 5 nights here. We had a great time!

Very comfortable stay! We got the whole cottage to ourselves and it was very spacious. You can tell the owner has put a lot of effort into the cottage by the decorations inside the house and the nice music that he has already put on when you first enter the house. It has all the kitchenware you would need and they are all very clean and tidy. The owner has given us different style of bread for every morning, they are all very tasty too, I think he has definitely tried them before and given us his local favourite. This is definitely one of the most rememberable stay in our trip.
