Nothing can go wrong with this place. It's so beautiful and charming. Kana, the lady in charge, is just an angel! It was so comforting to finally find someone that would speak fluent English. She was always smiling and trying to help.

The host was exceptionally kind and willing to help us plan our sightseeing and book onsen and restaurants for us. The location was convenient, just a few minutes on foot from the train station. It was comfortable, clean and a charmingly set up in the old post office building. We recommend!

Great location super close to station and easy to access things to do in the area. Kana was really helpful, we made vegetarian sushi once she had pointed out some of the ingredients we had bought weren't actually veggie! She also organised for us to do a nearby onsen which was fab. Lovely hostel with clean facilities and free delicious green tea.

Kana, our hostel host, was the best ever host - so friendly, helpful and always with a ready smile. The hostel was well resourced with free green tea, coffee and chilled water etc. Location was superb, eight minutes’ walk from the train station or a minute’s walk from the bus stop. Room was comfortable and serviceable.

Just a tiny disadvantage: noise is easy to be made cuz the building is old

The location is at small station but can be convenient to many scenery spots by bus. The host is extremely kind and friendly, she provided many suggestions, helped booking private bath and cared everything I need. Wonderful!

Kana is the sweetest person and thinks for you all the time. She’s done reservations for us, made us Sushi, taught us how to make origami and basically helped with everything. She made the place feel very comfortable.

The host is an incredibly friendly and helpful person. She gave us two local restaurant recommendations, and both were within walking distance and extremely delicious. She also made a reservation for us at a local onsen, and stayed up late into the night chatting with us and other guests. The beds were also very plush and comfortable, and the building has lovely character as it is a converted post office.

No negatives.

I have to start with Kana the host - she is just such a wonderful, kind, genuine and helpful person, it makes the whole stay so pleasurable. Loved the ryokan style beds and the relaxed atmosphere in the common area. Location was great too with many onsen, trails, waterfalls to enjoy. Lovely place and a fantastic host - the best I’ve experienced in my lifetime (51 years) of travel.

There was nothing we didn’t like but if you are going to stay here, be aware the noise can really carry easily. Tread lightly and be ready for an early night!

Kana was the perfect host. The building was beautiful and the futon was very comfortable. We had the early morning sunshine and birds wake us up in the 3-person tatami room on the 2nd floor.

Wow! Our host, Kana, was so nice and welcoming. She made sure I knew how to navigate around Hakone and recommended a local onsen nearby which was very relaxing. When I checked out, I forgot my umbrella, but she ran after me to make sure I got it. She then ensured I got on the right bus to make my shinkansen! Seriously the best host I've ever had!
