Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.

SingaporeLocation is a bit out of the way, rooms very dark and dingy and the service could be improved not sure whether it was a language barrier but I requested a taxi to station on check in but this was not secured and on the day they advised the taxi company was fully booked. Feels like something basic hotel should sort out as a priority if this is an issue on the weekend. For the price I would have expected better. The result was having to catch 4 trains to the airport rather than 2 which was unnecessarily inconvenient Secondly I was waiting over 35 minutes as the only person in the bar - sure they apologised but as I was sitting right there whilst multiple rounds of drinks were served to diners in the restaurant I thought the whole display was rather odd if not rude. Finally took 35 minutes for someone to offer a drink, which was then provided free of charge as an apology. Again not the service expected for the money paid.
Food was exceptional in the restaurant and bar was awesome touch. Onsen facilities were fantastic

Breakfast and dinner were amazing! Staff even took a picture of us at dinner and framed our picture as a souvenir. It was so nice to relax and enjoy the amenities and onsen. It was a highlight of our honeymoon!

United StatesWe could have booked a longer stay, but that's my fault.
Suishoen's location up in the hills of Hakone is idyllic. The hotel complex itself is extremely well-maintained and tranquil, with excellent exterior and interior design. My partner and I frequently remarked to each other throughout our stay that we aspire to live in a home as fine as the room we stayed in. The in-suite onsen was extremely relaxing, and we took advantage of it multiple times in a single-night stay. The provided amenities of the room (clothing, refrigerated beverages, coffee, toiletries) were of very high quality. The couch and beds in the room were very comfortable. The included dinner was without a doubt the best meal we have had in a three-week vacation full of great meals, and the breakfast was excellent as well. Suishoen is conveniently close to the Hakone Open Air Museum, and to bus stops that could take one to the other sites of interest in the beautiful town. We will, without a doubt, return for a longer stay.

United StatesThe bathroom was on the bottom floor which was a bit inconvenient. The different trains it took to get up to the ryokan from Tokyo were very scenic and interesting but also quite crowded. It made it a long trip to get to the ryokan. My husband thought the Western style bed was a bit too low to the floor, but it was were super big and comfortable.
It was a two story unit with the bathroom on the bottom floor which my husband didn’t care for but the space was wonderful. They had the table in the living room with a space to put your feet. The Japanese food for breakfast and dinner was so delicious. The staff was so nice and friendly. They had a car service that picked us up from the nearest train station. The in-room onsen was incredible - and it was big too.

United KingdomWe needed assistance returning from a trip when we missed the last bus. The staff assured us they would be able to secure a taxi if we were patient, but they did not do so. We had an opportunity to take a bus to a train station which would get us back, so rang the ryokan to check again if they would definitely be able to get us a taxi - they said yes so we let the last bus to the station leave without us! This caused us considerable problems (which we ultimately resolved without the ryokan’s help); we should have been told much sooner that they were unable to help us - and, at this price point, the ryokan needs a relationship with reliable taxi company.
The evening meals, both kaiseki and teppanyaki, were truly outstanding
