Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe property needs some TLC. It needs minor repairs as well as a coat of paint. The front desk staff were not very hospitable and seemed like they didn't really enjoy their job. They were professional enough but no more which was different than the hospitality we received elsewhere in Japan.
The location is great with a nice view of the ocean. The room itself was large, comfortable, well-equipped and bright. Breakfast and dinner were both excellent!

Right on the coastline, with great views, and had a free shuttle to the town, which was only a 20 minute walk. Traditional tatami room. Had the best onsen with views of the water. Our room had a toilet, no shower, but the onsen had that covered. Was very old school.

GermanyThe hotel is situated a little far away from the train station, and there isn't any way to get there other than a 30min walk or by shuttle service (provided by the hotel). Coordinating the pickup with the hotel wasn't a problem though.
The hospitality was excellent, and the hotel was great about coordinating a shuttle to fetch me from the train station and back. I stayed in a japanese style room with tatami, and it was very comfortable. The bath in the basement was also great. You have a small view of the ocean from some of the windows.

Cute traditional Japanese style hotel. Love how they let us leave the shoes at the front to keep the hotel clean. Love the outdoor public bath.. soaking in hot water in a freezing cold air in a very lovely atmosphere was wonderful :) The staff were all nice. One of them can speak Thai so he’s been very helpful 😍 The room with private bathroom, there will be no shower, only toilet. But it didn’t become a problem in the end cos after public bath you can shower there. The overall atmosphere and facilities were wonderful and I would go there again. Nice breakfast. I love the green seaweed thing… so yummy. One thing, if you don’t eat beef you gotta let them know in advance. Cos they don’t have any replacement if not been informed. The location seems ok for only those with own cars.

United KingdomThe walk to and from the hotel is reasonable. however the path for walking is not lit up at night so you must return before sun down. Apparently taxi's don't like to come here from the station as its too short a journey. The room I was in was nice, but the toilet walls I believe are damp so there is a smell of damp. There is no air conditioning which was a sudden change for me from my travels. I had to bear the brunt of the day's heat in the room, since at night opening the window is a no. if you don't want the exotic insects to enter the room. No free lockers for the changing in the onsen. this was a downside for me, and also no footwear like slippers for guests indoors.
The location was off near the coast of the sea. it was overlooking the cape. The hotel also unexpectedly has a 9 hole mini golf course in the back. The onsen is the reason I booked this place, open air hot spring bath overlooking a sea view. however be warned trees need some trimming. The price of the hotel reflects its age. despite it being a sizeable facility. the décor and infrastructure are dated and aging. The staff were very considerate. They provided a shuttlebus despite it being really late, due to an unforeseen train cancelation for the entire JR Line to Sapporo from Hakodate. They also offered to drive me to places I could eat or shop for food if I needed before we got to the hotel, as there is no restaurants or eateries near the hotel. The hotspring is one cold water bath, one large indoor bath and one small out door bath, you can feel the source of the spring in the bath. There is also a small sauna that fits 3 people.

AustriaThe only thing that comes to my mind: the futons are probably a bit thin. It wasn't a problem for me as I like them like that, but I know that some people prefer to rest on softer futons. I'm sure the helpful staff would do something about it if it becomes an issue.
An older Hotel with a hot spring (indoor and outdoor pools) that shows a bit of patina here and there but the service is impeccable. And the food - marvellous. Don't miss out on the Kaiseki dinner! Also, the shuttle service from and to Noboribetsu Station works fine - just 5 minutes. Or a 30 minute walk if you prefer.

SingaporeWe were given bean pillows which was abit difficult to sleep on. The aircon is the old 70s unit where its abit warm. The timing of breakfast, dinner and transport was extremely strict so you need to follow closely.
The hotel is situated beside the sea and had a picture perfect view when strolling outside. The dinner and breakfast was impressive. Highly recommended. The outdoor onsen was amazing too.

United KingdomAmazing hotel! The food is fantastic, definitely get the dinner. The room was really spacious and with a great view over the sea. The onsen also has an outside bath, which feels really special at night. Staff were very friendly and organised to pick up our bags from the station early and then come later to pick us up. Would highly recommend

New ZealandThe hotel itself is a little old, and despite having a filter for the window, somehow some bugs still got into the room - it was summer so I get it. And some areas could've been cleaner. The toilet had a smell, something like newly furnished paint? And the pillow was a little hard, but it didn't end up being a problem for me.
The dinner and breakfast was amazing, WAY bigger and better than I'd expected. The staff were very pleasant and accomodating, they offer shuttle bus service and helped me organise the best time to take it during check out. It was my first onsen experience here, and there was barely anyone when I went so very comfortable. Since it was summer, I recommend the outdoor onsen.

Japanno air conditioning in the room! it would have been good to have it just after the onsen to cool down quickly. In the end, it was ok without it at night even tough it was a hot summer day! a little gesture for the planet
Food was excellent, good variety and quantity. The old Japanese ryokan style atmosphere (maybe from the 70s), a bit old and used but it was good. Very much liked how they disposed the shoes in the morning!

MalaysiaThese are more nitpicks, for you to understand the hotel more. The age of the hotel is showing. While everything is probably very clean, random hard to reach areas on things like the wallpaper, tatami and carpet show faded stains which are impossible to remove without a revamp. The location, if you are not driving or are trying to get to the hotel after 6pm (when the shuttle service ends) isn't good, your only option is the taxi, which can sometimes be hard to get after 7pm even from the train station. There is no air conditioning in the hotel. This probably wouldn't be an issue except this year the summer heat has been anomalous. There is no in room bathroom but the yukata and Onsen provided more than made up for it. Fantastic Onsen. It is a hotel I would go back to.
It is a relaxing Onsen hotel. The view from the room was stunning. Lush green ending with the sea in the horizon. It is complete with the traditional Japanese hospitality from service all the way to the amenities and welcome matcha and tidbit. There is also a shuttle bus that runs quite frequently to the Noborobetsu train station, which closes the distance for the location somewhat The outdoor Onsen has the same great view of the ocean.
