Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBed bugs on the first night. Facilities could be upgraded. Wish I could have booked a room on the female only floor
Quite close to the metro station. The room despite being small was surprisingly well equipped with a futon bed, wardrobe, mini fridge and drawers. A lot better than those sleeping pods as I got my personal space and extra equipments (and at cheap price). There was also a powder room for female only. I heard the neighbourhood wasn't the safest one in Osaka but I personally didn't encounter any problems.

JapanFacilities were quite old and worn out, the kitchen area in particular. Panels were peeling off of the cabinets, and the whole area was worn down. Toilets also were pretty lackluster in the same way.
Decent location, well signalized, friendly and polite staff. Room seemed reasonably clean. Large mini fridge. Very cheap.

PhilippinesThe room smells cigarette, i think there’s bedbugs which make my sleep really uncomfortable. This place is in Nishinaru so there are many homeless people outside. At night, you’ll hear people from outside shouting.
The staff was very nice. I really like the smell of the elevator

AustraliaThe facilities are old and ageing, and the rooms and other areas could do with more cleaning.
Cheap price for a small room with a Japan or Western style bed comparable to the same price paid at capsule or other hostels. It has all the amenities you could need minus a full kitchen. The staff are helpful as well.

MexicoEven when the staff cleaned everything daily, because of the filthy surroundings outsides you could find a cockroach inside your room from time to time. Also, they don't have a public back inside the hotel, just showers. Outside the hotel you could see several drunk and homeless people, so maybe don't stay if you get sad easily when seeing something like this. Also a lot of garbage accumulated on the streets.
I liked how nice and attentive the staff out, and the fact I didn't need to go out at a determined hour of the day for cleaning time, so I could sleep more in the morning and clean by myself. Also the room had air conditioner, a little fridge and tv. The futon was very comfy too. They gave me a free pass for an onsen close to the hotel. That was very kind.

United StatesThe hotel is very old and the walls are thin so you can hear your neighbors and the metal doors are loud too so if a person slams the door it's very loud. The shared bathroom and shower, if there is a line, you have to wait. Need better curtains my room was right across the bathroom from the other side of the building and the lights would be on all night in the bathroom shining into my room. The area is located on the poor side of town so it's not as safe or clean.
The hotel staff was very accompanying to the customers needs. The hotel gets the job done and that's about it.

JapanThere isn't many showers (there was one women only shower on the top floor - not sure about men) but they give ticket to go to the public bath so it was okay. The location is not the best in Osaka and doesn't feel that safe for solo travellers

SpainThe neighbourhood was dirty and full of drunk or homeless people, but still safe to walk around. The common bathrooms (for both genders) were dirty and there are no kitchens. Make sure you click on the smoke-free room if you do not smoke, otherwise, you'll be allocated to a room for smokers, which stinks! (my mistake, though).
The hotel was very, very cheap. Almost too good to be true. As I got there, I realized why it was so cheap: the neighbourhood where it is located, despite being a 10-minute walk away from the Tsūtenkaku, is quite dirty, poor and full of homeless people. It is at the entrance of the red light district. For this reason, some guests are... Questionable. Women have 1 available shower (bring your own towel!) and a women-only bathroom on the 6th floor. I don't know about men. You can also go to a nearby onsen, but you will have to pay around 500 yen for that. Taking all of that into consideration: it was definitely worth it to stay here for 3 nights; the room was good enough for sleeping and leaving some food in the fridge and because it is Japan, it is still safe to be in that neighbourhood (from a 22-year old girl). You might get some stares, but nothing will happen to you :). Also, you have a small room for yourself, which for that price is great! Usually, this only gets you a bed in a shared room, if anything. If you have some money to spare for accommodation though, find another place!!

JapanThough i got a confirmation that I would be able to check in earlier, when I arrived they told me to come back later, because the room was not yet clean. Generally I'm okay if they say they can't let me check in early, but they said I could so it was pretty frustrating to not be able to do so in the end. Would've loved a heads up!
You pay little - you get little. For the price it was perfectly fine! You get a little private room for little money. Perfect for one night

It’s cheap. Location is in a poor neighborhood but convenient. It’s not a dorm, you have a small room for yourself. You get a free ticket to go to the onsen nearby

VietnamThe hotel is in Nishinari-ku. Its reputation can make you hesitant... I've a sense of insecurity if I travel here alone especially as a female. My room kinda smelled like cigarettes, and sometimes Wi-Fi doesn't connect properly.
Close to train station, near city center which is convenient. Check-in time is early so I can leave my stuffs there and spend the rest of the day exploring at ease. A public bathroom ticket is included.
