Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe reception is dated and could do with an update. The breakfast was really special but no coffee! I disliked some of the fishy items but I appreciate it must be kept real and traditional, just feel sorry about the wastage. I loved the onsen but it was soooo hot I hardly could get in.
We had an unforgettable experience at Kaisuitei. The hotel location is excellent, views to the lake from our bedroom were stunning, and the top floor onsen and views to Fiji were super special. I loved having kimonos to fully immerse in the culture. Breakfast was an extraordinary experience too. Although it's an expensive experience, I will cherish my stay forever.

PolandCozy traditional tatami room and amazing onsen. There are two public baths and one has beautiful view on Kawaguchiko lake. Traditional meals (kaiseki) are an experience.

CanadaThere is a bookable private baths. Good option for couples or if you have tattoos. It's not as nice as the 2 other public baths. But it still gives you a view on the mountains. All from the 2 chairs on the balcony. The only cons, the water is particularly hot, more than in the larger public baths
Hotel with Japanese style room. When you arrive, the beds are hidden away in the closet. The receptionist asks you at what time you would like them to set up the beds on the tatami floor. Our room was the largest hotel room of our trip in Japan. Very comfortable, very clean. We could see Mont Fuji a little bit from our window. If you dare try the on site public baths (you'll have to go naked like Japanese do), you will find the 2 nice public bath (top floor and basement level). Even the basement level public bath is nice. It features a natural light from a light well, a Bamboo "waterfall", rock walls.

United StatesVery clean and spacious tatami room, and also very authentic! Great private onsen as well that's available for booking at a nominal fee. The location is pretty great as well as you're right by the water. You likely won't have a view of Fuji though if you're seeing the water, but that's not that big of a deal.

United StatesThe town was a bit boring on a rainy day with no Fuji views, but this is nothing against the hotel. Also, make sure you're aware the onsen is closed during midday.
The room with the private onsen was dreamy! Definitely the experience of a lifetime and we would highly recommend the extra money for this room type. We also enjoyed having dinner at the hotel.

Australia- No mountain view from room or rooftop (but can easily exit the hotel and cycle around the lake for Fuji views - bike hire 2-3mins walk away, not associated with hotel). - Our suite was in a separate building away 2 mins walk from the hotel, which we weren’t informed about until arrival. So had to walk back to hotel for their facilities including public onsen. - Not walking distance from the area with many restaurants open at night - By far, our most expensive stay of the trip. For the price, would have been nice if any food/traditional meals/drinks were included
- Clean, modern, luxurious hotel - We had a very spacious suite with tatami in bedroom. We had an indoor and outdoor bath. Outdoor bath was overlooking Lake Kawaguchiko. Big smart TV in room. - Friendly staff - 10mins walk from Kawaguchiko station (Transfer service available but we did not use it)

SingaporeNothing
Good view of the lake, close to kawaguchigo station to walk to, though more hassle with luggage. But hotel provides shuttle bus to and from the station, so that’s very convenient. Onsen size on the smaller side, but there are 2 for the ladies to choose from, so can’t complain. Breakfast room view was fantastic if you get the one with the windows. Not much options for dinner in the area though.

Portugalnothing. would stay again!
The location is great but you can only see Mount fuji if you go to the rooftop. The rooms face the lake. It had a traditional vibe, super clean and the room had a balcony. The futon was really confortable. We had dinner served in our room and the food was incredible (expect a LOT of food!). The breakfast is in a common area, equally great. There are two onsens, one bigger and one smaller on the rooftop. Both were amazing and calm.

SingaporeWe ordered the breakfast and dinner meals together with the stay, and it was a very yummy and wonderful kaiseki experience. Plus a lot of restaurants and shops close early there. Location is great! Right in front of the bus stop that takes you around the lake. Very convenient to get around by purchasing the bus pass. We could request for the hotel's shuttle bus to bring us to the main bus/train station too.

The room was extremely spacious, and we had a view of Mount Fuji from our room - which we hadn't expected! We had a fantastic stay here and I would highly recommend people to stay here if visiting Kawaguchiko.
